Stevie Kirk Posted October 3, 2023 Share Posted October 3, 2023 I think what is being said here is that 1 - fans with legitimate tickets get into the ground in the normal way 2 - once inside they use force of numbers to kick the fire exits out from the inside to let their ticketless mates in This doesn’t happen by chance and is pre planned. Not sure what the answer is other than spending a fortune on extra Police and Security. In the old days of paper tickets there was a cordon round the ground and you had to show your ticket . That’s a bit more difficult now if tickets are on phones as chancers can just say their ticket is on their mates phone . Though probably not impossible if it was publicised beforehand that you had to be with the person who had the tickets on their phone and that there would be a cordon. We all know what went on prior to the game on Saturday. Every fan of every club who've ever had a home game against Celtic knows what went on. Celtic fans know what went on. A section of Celtic fans were undeniably in the wrong based on their behaviour. The police response was also wrong, IMO. However, the lengths Celtic fans go to to try and, once again, paint themselves as the victim of all of this, when they started it all, is incredible. I think the new-age Celtic fan has spent too long seeing their club and their fans become 'the establishment', they all get far too excited about the prospect of becoming the 'poor wee us' victims the generations before them had to endure. Calling out shite behaviour, even from fans of the team you support, does not in anyway make you less of a fan of that team. Grow up. Call it out! Aye, it seems odd to focus on the police trying to hold the doors closed as the main safety issue here. Because proper infrastructure is in place to prevent this from being an issue. And as for Celtic fans playing victims, I think pointing out that security staff en mass forcibly holding shut a fire exit is noteworthy at least. That’s never going to happen.That doesn’t mean to say that the issues aren’t important or don’t need highlighting . .I’ve never gone to a football match expecting to force my way in for free and it just shows the mentality and sense of entitlement that exists within a section of the Celtic support . And just because Celtic pay us for the trashed seats doesn’t make it right. We entertain Rangers at home on 23rd December and it will be interesting to see if we have the same issues then.
