A draw would ideal, can see us beating Georgia, but who would honestly want to go to the last game needing a result against norway? Worse than the Italy game in 2008 imo.

At least we would have a playoff to fall back on if they beat us. Agreed though, f**k that

Does winning the group actually benefit us in any way?

It gives us a chance of being Pot 1 for the Euros, as opposed to Pot 2 or 3 if we finish second.

I haven’t checked but someone posted the other day that if we win our last two games and finish first we’re likely to be Pot 1.

The problem with most people on here is the Georgia game has got history, they are all shitebags and want it bagged'n'tagged, Scotland are in a great position just accept it and enjoy the last 2 games.

Aye. The teams that lost in Georgia would never have got themselves into the position where a win in Georgia guarantees qualification regardless of any results elsewhere. Plus, Georgia are pish. We'll win by at least two, probably more.

This is correct. If we win the last two games and Spain drop points, then we are pot 1 if any of the following happens:

England drop any points at home to Italy or Malta, or in North Macedonia.

Hungary drop any points at home to Montenegro or in Lithuania or Bulgaria.

Belgium drop any points at home to Sweden or Azerbaijan.

All this Georgia chat ffs.

Yes, if we have to go there and win I would be confident in this group of players being able to do the job, but why on earth would anyone want to be in that position rather than us being over the line tonight?

Pure masochism, but I suppose that goes hand in hand with supporting scotland.......

I’m with you.  Second place is just fine.

Yup. Qualify tonight, and two very winnable games to finish the campaign on a high.

Imagine winning 7/8 games, and having the 8th away in Spain taken away by a whisker of an offside VAR intervention.

If Spain win tonight, we could easily finish the group 11 points clear of Norway. It feels on a tightrope right now, but this could be even clearer than how the WCQ group was with Israel in the end.

The team that lost in Georgia the first time was in a magnificent position, given our company in the group.

By then we'd done the double over France and had just blown away a strong Ukraine side four days earlier.  Had we won in Georgia, we wouldn't quite have got over the line, but it would have taken us extremely close.

There was no reason then to expect such a derailing.

That's true, our WCQ group maybe ended similarly with us in pole position to get 2nd, but still a little nervous in October although by winning our last two games against Denmark and Moldova left us with a comfortable 7 point advantage to both Austria and Israel.
