HibeeJibee
Sir Bobby Charlton: England World Cup winner and Manchester United legend dies - BBC Sport Died aged 86. Survivor of Munich, winner of World Cup and Ballon d'Or, record goalscorer for Manchester United and England until recent years. Only booked once in his club career apparently. Regular thorn in the side of Scotland and the Scottish League - indeed made his England debut in 4-0 win only 10 weeks after the air disaster.

A lot of talk about that horrific day just now Is worth noting they only mean among the footballers: stewardess Rosemary Cheverton is still alive, as are a couple of Yugoslav diplomats wives plus their children, who were young kids at the time. Geoff Hurst is now England's only starter from WC Final still alive... but squad members Terry Paine, Ian Callaghan and George Eastham endure; also 6 of West Germans starting XI.

I bow to your superior judgement. As usual the normal punters are forgotten. Looked up that game earlier. Surprised to see Hurst is the only starter left. Good to see there's still plenty of the West Germans about

Lex
Great documentary on the BBC about him last night. What a man he was, a legend on and off the pitch. The greatest British player of all time, IMO.
