M&S All Butter Puff Pastry Mince Pies

Good colour on the pastry, a little on the small side (although I bet M&S fans think they're bigger than what they are). Lovely little sprinkle of sugar on top. However, not enough filling inside. So much so that you could say that the pies lacked real substance. M&S always provide their loyal punters with a pie that just doesn't live up to expectations. It says that there are six in the box. M&S fans might argue there are more in here than in their competitors' boxes.

I hereby award this pie the rating of: FALKIRK FOOTBALL CLUB, due to not having enough substance and always letting down their loyal, if misguided, support.

These are my staple mince pie at Christmas. Very surprised to see them score so lowly. I will still consume many of them over the coming weeks regardless.

Like whisky, there are no bad varieties, some just score higher than others.

I wish you a happy munching.

I'm sure I post this every year, but you used to get Tesco value mince pies that were excellent.

Rubbish if you like them deep-filled, which I don't. Shallow-filled in a really nice, buttery shortcrust pastry. 49p for six back in the day.

M&S Collection Mince Pies

I dived into these pies like Martin Boyle in the penalty box as they had good colour on the pastry, were well enough filled and had a nice frosting of icing sugar on top. They appeared structurally sound, decent up top, but a tiny wee bit leaky at the back. Plenty of tasty filling with some exotic flavours in there too. However, just as @O'Kelly Isley III has mentioned in the thread (good scouting, thank you), these pies come in at £3.50 a box (of six). Despite all their tastiness I am not quite sure that they provide the consumer with value for money - they certainly won't win any awards and won't feature in any European Pie competitions.

I hereby award this pie the rating of: HIBERNIAN FOOTBALL CLUB, due to being quite tasty, but not being good enough to win any trophies and really not providing value for money.
