Hearts vs St Johnstone: Craig Levein's return to Tynecastle

Recommended Posts

From listening to the Scarves Around the Funnel podcast, it seems as though Levein is doing things similarly to his time at Dundee United, and Andy Kirk’s role will be more than that of a regular Assistant Head Coach. Get the feeling he will be like Peter Houston and primed for a manager’s gig. Levein seems to have a bit of history with sort of set up. I think he sees himself as somewhere in between a manager and a Director of Football.

On the Sacked in the Morning podcast, he goes on to say that he regrets not letting coaches in his previous gigs have more say and day to day control.

Levein will set the game plan, but I think we will see a bit of Kirk’s football philosophy here too. Either way, it should be interesting.

I mean, you couldve just read the BBC interview he done when he was hired to learn all that, and probably have saved yourself a lot of time.

Hes been pretty open about the set up.

I don’t just listen to podcasts to find out about St Johnstone’s coaching set-up though. Just an observation as it happened to come up. :D

I mean it was a BBC interview, as stated in the post you quoted, not a podcast.

Into these Tory unionist c***s Saints.

I never read the BBC interview though. Why would I? The coaching and management set up at St Johnstone is not particularly high on my list of interests, believe it or not!

I listen to a few podcasts though, and both of those referenced it, so I thought I would mention it. If it is old news then apologies everyone! I will make a greater effort to make sure I find all the sources next time!

Oh… and Levein is one of the biggest Tory Unionists around. Probably why he felt so at home at McDiarmid Park. 😎

I dont think Hearts fans can be chucking "Tory" taunts about when they have Ann Budge in charge of their club tbh.

Aye that Brown was head on the Scottish Socialist Party, I believe. 😄

I'm pretty sure it was the Young Farmers fans who started it m8

Is Budge even a Tory, actually? Genuine question, as I do not know. Are people just assuming this because she is rich? I mean, she is a self-made success from a Pilton block of flats, I think. Also her business practices like charity sponsors and community outreach, plus the living wage suggest she is miles away from a Jacob Reese-Mogg: “people should not be paid when taking time off”, sort of character. Who knows though, she may be for all I know.

Don't think there's anything to suggest there is tbh, other than having money.

As well as growing up in Pilton, her old man was a dock worker from Leith.

Certainly nothing in her business practices to suggest it, that’s for sure. I know some self made rich people can go all Michelle Mone, but usually there are hints in their behaviour. Not seen anything to suggest Ann is like that at all. Quite the opposite in fact.

What has politics got to do with football anyway?

Dunno, some boy started going on about Ann Budge being a Tory. Think he was just getting a bit pissed off about the whole stereotype that St Johnstone fans are a bunch of inbred, welly wearing tractor-humpers. 🤷‍♂️

Ok sounds a good answer.
