Premiership Hot Potato 23/24

Recommended Posts

Saw this mentioned elsewhere so thought I'd get it going.

Week 1 - Awarded to St Johnstone. Although County also lost by 2 goals, at least they scored.

Week 2 - St Johnstone hold on to the spud by losing 2-0 for the 2nd successive week.

Week 3 - St Johnstone go to Parkhead with the tattie and get a creditable draw, however, the potato retains residence in Perth.

Week 4 - Another draw, this time with Dundee means the tattie gets comfortable in the Fair City.

Week 5 - Another 2-0 defeat, this time to Rangers. The tattie remains unmoved.

Week 6 - Hibs the latest side to win 2-0 against the Saints. Another week in Perth.

Week 7 - St Johnstone lead a game for the 1st time this season but a 2nd half penalty for Livi means the Perth Saints remain custodians of the spud.

Week 8 - St Johnstone probably the better side in the 1st half (I was at this one) but retain the tattie with another draw.

Week 10 - Another abject performance sees St Mirren hammer St J 4-0.

Week 11 - Finally the potato moves after St Johnstone score twice early doors and hang on to beat Killie who become new holders of the Tattie.

Week 12 - Kilmarnock only take possession of the potato for 3 days, swiftly moving it on to Motherwell, who lose 1-0 at Rugby Park.

Midweek - Who are Motherwell's next opponents, none other than perennial spud safekeepers, St Johnstone. The Saints race into a 2 goal lead but are pegged back to Desmond. They keep the steelmen out though and the tattie remains in Lanarkshire.

Week 13 - Two goals from Lawrence Shankland means the spud will remain at Fir Park for the international break.

Next Hot Potato Fixture - Saturday 25th November - Celtic v Motherwell (Holders)

Bit of a touchy subject should celtc receive the spud.

With both teams eager to either retain or claim the coveted potato, the match promises to be a hotly contested battle. I suggest my sister consider a visit to Portugal, and this comprehensive overview is just what she needs. click here into the diverse casino offerings in the Algarve, coupled with details on Canadian-friendly options, will undoubtedly enhance her experience. From gaming options to cultural nuances, this guide covers it all. It's the perfect resource for my sister as she plans her Algarve adventure, providing a glimpse into the vibrant casino scene.

An enthralling Hot Potato match at Fir Park ends up in a 3-3 draw but ultimately means that the tattie remains in Lanarkshire. A midweek set of fixtures means that Motherwell get a quick opportunity to offload the spud against a club managed by a former player.

Next Hot Potato fixture.

Tuesday 5th December. Ross County vs Motherwell (Holders)

Wow, if it wasn't for the font, I doubt I would've guessed it was a bot!

I love this idea. Would be interesting to look back on previous seasons to see how the hot potato correlates to relegation/bad seasons

There's a tremendous thread by @craigkilliethat details the entire history of the hot potato from the very formation of scottish league football. I encourage you to look it up.

I did look it up (if anyone else is interested 👇) thanks for the read! I am intrigued to know whether it is still the current tattie, or did it go down?

A 3-0 drubbing at County means that Motherwell retain the tattie. That's no wins in 12 for the steelmen and they come up against the only other side to have handled the spud for a significant amount of time in their next match.

Next Hot Potato fixture.

Saturday 9th December - Motherwell (holders) vs St. Johnstone

With Motherwell losing to 'Rangers' and their subsequent fixture at Aberdeen being called off, the spud remains firmly ensconced at Fir Park.

What is already a massive game between the bottom 2 takes on additional significance as the tattie is also on the menu.

Next Hot Potato Fixture

Saturday 30th December

Motherwell (holders) vs Livingston
