I'll close the voting here with my list.

1 The Wire

2 The Sopranos

3 The Simpsons

4 Deadwood

5 Brass Eye

6 True Detective

7 The Shield

8 Black Mirror

9 Too Old To Die Young

10 The Thick of It

Could have easily swapped the bottom 6 out for another dozen or so shows.

I'll get it all counted up and we'll kick off the list in a bit.

Right, all counted up. Over 80 of you responded, nominating over 300 different shows. Thank you all.

Scoring was as follows, 10 points for your first pick down to 1 for your 10th. Most points wins, I've tried to avoid ties as much as possible, so they've been separated firstly by number of nominations ie: 5+5+5 beats 7+8, and then by highest nomination, ie: 6+9 beats 7+8. So any ties remaining received the exact same number of points.

2012's top 10 and selected others are in the opening post for reference.

The Countdown to P&B's Top 100 TV Shows of All Time starts here.

The Newsroom (2012 -2014)

"what makes America the best country in the world ?"

"You do"

Scraping into the list ahead of the unlucky Narcos and Babylon 5 is a first trip to Sorkinland and The Newsroom. Big Jeff Daniels stars as ACN (w)anchorman Will McAvoy in this drama based around a fictional cable news show.

24 (2001-2010)

tick tick (the sound the wee digital clock thing makes)

Keifer Sutherland is Jack Bauer, saving the world (America) from a whole host of stereotypical bad guys from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and China. This came 10th in 2012, so a fair bit of a drop here. The majority of this of course takes place within the unique 24, 1 hour episodes making up a full day however, you never see Jack doing any of the normal stuff a man does during a 24 hour period, like eating a sandwich, taking a shit, or scrolling through porn on his phone while waiting for the President to phone him back.

Archer (2009 -)

Archer.jpg.ee1a5b7dd9f4f9eabc50f82599720b49.jpg

"I hope everyone dies"

First animated show in our list is Archer, a show about dysfunctional secret agents and the intelligence agency they work for. With a sort of mid 20th century comic book animation style and leaning heavily into parody and black comedy, this has won 4 Primetime Emmy Awards.

"I'd offer you a beer, but I've only got 6 cans"

Our first foray into classic British sitcom territory sees Britain's premier Geordie TV duo (yeah, you heard me Ant + Dec) chat about beer, women and some class analysis as well. These boys would be all over the Infuriating Things Your Partner Does thread if they posted on here.

"I am not some French gent, I am some Belgian gent"

Wee Belgian dude with a tache and a dodgy belly solves crimes. Agatha Christie's creation has been played by numerous actors on the radio and the small and big screen since his creation in 1920
