Miguel Sanchez Posted Sunday at 11:33 Author Share Posted Sunday at 11:33 Week 37 update One death this week, James Earl Jones: James Earl Jones, voice of Darth Vader, dies aged 93 - BBC News Quote During his career, Jones won three Tony awards including two Emmys and a Grammy, as well as an honorary Oscar in 2011 for lifetime achievement. Born in Mississippi in January 1931, Jones said he was unable to speak for most of his childhood because of a stammer. He explained he had developed his famous voice while working on how to deal with the stammer. Jones was best known for voicing Darth Vader in the original Star Wars film, which came out in 1977, and sequels The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. For a career as long and successful as his, it can be hard to cover everything worthwhile in an article. I usually use the Guardian's obituaries because they're usually the most detailed and comprehensive. They didn't mention Star Wars. They didn't mention The Lion King. Okay then. I feel as if this year has featured more younger deaths than normal through horrible, tragic circumstances. It's a pleasant change to cover someone who lived a long, successful life and who will be remembered for as long as people are interested in films and TV. There are a lot of great things he did which I could share here - Vader Sessions is a youtube classic which I posted a few pages ago - but I'm going to go with one of the first and still the best Simpsons Halloween segment: Jones died at 93 so he's worth 32 Base Points for @Richey Edwards and @superwell87, with a Deadly Duo bonus giving them both 57 points. As a result, the standings look like this: 1. Ned Nederlander 797 2. The Naitch 593 3. Billy Jean King 536 4. mozam76 528 5. psv_killie 527 6. lolls 514 7. Moomintroll 502 8. The_Craig 494 9. Venti Posted Sunday at 14:09 Share Posted Sunday at 14:09 Glad he got all the Vader stuff done before he passed. Think Kenobi was pretty much the end of the character, so doubt he would be needed again. Hope they don't use AI or something to replicate his voice.

I once met a bunch of guys from Birmingham on some Spanish resort holiday. Got talking football and they said Gary Shaw was the number one drinker and shagger in Birmingham. He did well to make it to 63.
