Royal Headache - Live In America looking at it that way, there’s lots this year I really like. Very strong year. And I didn’t get to SxSW last year which usually reduces my listening sphere a lot. The Frenchmen are a San Francisco band doing that slightly twee indie pop thing that can only really come from SF or Glasgow. Goodnight House is unashamedly low-fi indie straight out of 2003. RIYL Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Mourning (A) Blackstar were recommended to me by Lee Bains of Lee Bains + the Glory Fires fame, and they are a mix of soul, gospel, trip-hop and 2Tone. New album has tracks that are recognisable as songs on it. I think that’s a good thing on balance. Enjoyed the Reading clip but haven’t actually seen them before so have nothing to compare with.
