A far more exciting and prestigious league with a worldwide TV audience. Why would anyone want to leave it?

Thumper
Raith used up all their fate points on all those ridiculous late goals early in the season. Jim Goodwin contrived to get beat by Darvel while managing one of the largest teams in the country. He is simply quite bad at football management.

Overachieving with a part-time team in the Championship is probably his glass ceiling. Give him more resources and he'll f**k it right up.
Hammer Jag
Goodwin is so hopeless that if he was trying to throw the league on purpose, they would end up winning it.

Rhys McCabe Hype Train
Goodwin is an imposter of a manager, and Ian Murray has a habit of bottling the big moments (see Airdrie playoff defeats in 2021 & 2022). it’s not so much either are trying to throw it, it’s more there’s not enough ability there to actively go out and win it.
FitbaSupporter
VAR, The Old Firm, more defeats, relegation, no Fife Derby, grass pitch. Rovers Board have seen the promised land and thought f**k that.

I don't think the 2021 one really counts as bottling, to be fair. By the time of the final the team had been playing two games a week for about two months, they were running on fumes by the end of the season and it was the Walking Wounded XI we fielded, especially in the second leg. Hard to say if Morton would have been too much for us without the injury list, but they were just better than the team we actually had available. I think it's only really a bottling when you chuck it away from strong position (like Morton in 03/04, or Falkirk in 20/21) or bungle a game you should really be expecting to win (like us in the final against QP the following year).

Obviously it's happened a few times this season in the top flight as well. The only real pity is that (as with the top flight) the rest of the division are all either total pish or even bigger bottle merchants, so there is zero chance of a third party sneaking in.
