Alert Mongoose Posted Wednesday at 21:01 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:01 (edited) Is it really necessary to compare every game to Scotland? We were shite, we know. I cqn't be the only one getting tired of being reminded about it. ETA there are about 10 threads about Steve Clarke to keep people occupied on the subject without spoiling the rest of the tournament threads. johnnydun Posted Wednesday at 21:01 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:01 Georgia showed great team work and positive play to get them out the groups. Something that we never do.

It makes a change from us expecting Portugal to get at least a draw to get us through. As for Georgia. Probably the worst result for Steve Clark. Finish 9 points ahead in the same qualification group. And what a contrast.Β Injuries did not help us but everyone knows he is a cautious coach. We needed something else. If he does not go now. A few hounding in the Nations League will heap more pressure on him.Β

When they were directly in our qualifying group,Β finishing 4th out of 5 and winning 2 games from 10, I would say it carries a significant weight to judge Georgia's performance against our own.
Jacksgranda Posted Wednesday at 21:07 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:07 Turkey v Czech Republic maybe wasn't a classic, but it was most enjoyable, with added handbags at the conclusion.

We got off lightly.Β If Clarke could change or show willing to change then fine. But not sure he is capable of a different approach.Β I donβt mind being cautious against better teams but his issue is he does not or did not change it with nearly enough time for it to make any difference.Β Edited Wednesday at 21:09 by welldaft

They're not very good but only a worldy goalkeeper performance and similarly shoddy refereeing stopped them from being 2 or 3 goals up in their first half against Georgia. They wouldn't have got any further with Schick also being suspended for the last 16 though. At least Georgia brought more entertainment to the tournament.Β
johnnydun Posted Wednesday at 21:11 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:11 Some folk don't realise how painful it can be with studs hitting the top of the boots nowadays. Modern boots are about as thick as paper.
