Over the years the team and their unpleasant fans have drained every bit of enjoyment out of it. I never watch them anymore. They wrote off Switzerland yet are now celebrating as if they are great underdogs having beaten them on penalties. France have been tedious beyond belief but have quite clearly played at a higher and more competent overall level of performance than England. They didn't have a group comprised entirely of dogshit outfits and weren't 60 seconds from being eliminated by a minnow. The issues are that in a 90 minute one-off match such a difference doesn't count for much; and the gulf isn't as large as it could be because Deschamps is almost as fraudulent a manager as Sir Waistcoat.
