Beardy23
Peter "The Cat" Bonetti used to row over to the mainland from Mull when he played for Dundee United.
gannonball
Not Scottish football related but Michael Owen used to commute to training via his own Helicopter to the Newcastle training ground, not sure where he stayed though down South.
Doonhame Buddie
Surely Dougie Imrie must win the prize for most mental commute. He has to travel to Greenock every day.
hk blues
Didn't Peter Bonneti commute from the Inner Hebrides when he played for Dundee Utd? ETA - Darn, I see somebody beat me to it! Edited September 24 by hk blues

Was that Les Ferdinand? Not sure Owen ever played in the south?

Steve McQueen
28 minutes ago, RandomGuy. said: Les Ferdinand definitely flew his own helicopter from London to Newcastle. Owen would be Cheshire. Weird that they would have 2 players with helicopters.
The Marly
Not professional football, but back in the early 90s I played amateur for Blair Atholl. There was a guy used to travel up from Biggar to play. Great commitment for amateur football.

My Mrs was pals with his daughter in those days - Bonetti lived in a house between Bunnessan and Fionnaphort. I'd love to know about the rowing part as it's a hell of a long way from the Ross of Mull to the mainland.
Sergeant Wilson
7 hours ago, craigkillie said: Julie Fleeting was working as a PE teacher (or similar) in a school in Kilwinning while she was playing for Arsenal. She would train with Kilwinning Rangers U21s and just fly down for the games. That was the usual p/t Scottish arrangement. I remember Kenny and Innes McDonald and maybe Ian McPhee trained with Forfar while playing for Airdrie. I think Tommy Walker did the same but at Arbroath. There'll be loads of others in the past, you don't hear about it as much now.

County had similar when they first joined the league, Billy Herd I'm sure trained with Cowdenbeath ( I might be wrong but it was certainly around that area) Willie Furphy definitely train with Albion Rovers.
Cptn Hooch
Wonder who has the shortest commute in the game. Perhaps a Thistle player lives in the flats behind the stadium or a Luton player opens his back door to Kenilworth Road's pitch
lubo_blaha
Neil Alexander travelled from Glasgow to Aberdeen every day when he was on our books. Never made an appearance, I can’t imagine being stuck in a car for more than five hours a day would’ve been great for him at 38 years of age.
Girth
I travel from Hereford up to Scotland and around the world, to source the finest talent for Dundee FC.

Sortmeout
Fife to Ayrshire was too long a commute for Keir McInroy to sign for Ayr we were told. He signed for Kilmarnock a short time later.
Zen Archer (Raconteur)
Ryan Stevenson left Raith Rovers citing travelling back and forth to Ayrshire as the reason. IIRC he signed for Troon, then out of nowhere he was supposed to sign for an Australian team, now that would have been a helluva commute.
Stan Bo
Think Oran Kearney commuted from NI twice a week when he was out manager. Think when mud started getting flung Gordon Scott said OK wanted to commute more than he had been doing during the season. Not sure if Kearney ever disputed it officially.
