Glasgow Loon
Another new signing announced on the OS:- UNITED MAKE FOURTH SUMMER SIGNING Argentinean defender joins the club... Leeds United have signed Argentinean defender Federico Bessone to further strengthen the squad ahead of the new season. The 26-year-old left-back, who has signed a three-year contract, will arrive from Swansea City where he made 22 appearances last season. Bessone follows fellow defender Paul Connolly into the club. He is the club's fourth signing of the summer as manager Simon Grayson looks to bolster his squad in readiness for the return to the npower Championship. Grayson said: "I watched him last year. He's very comfortable on the ball and is a very good acquisition. "He has a good pedigree and he is another good player to come into the squad. We needed another left-back, Ben Parker was injured last year, and he gives us another option. "He's a good age, he speaks good English, and he was part of a Swansea team who did well. He can handle a ball, he can defend, and he has done well when he has played in the Championship. "We're delighted we've got him. He had an option to re-sign at Swansea which he turned down because of our interest in him. "He's excited. He's aware of the club and the fanbase and having done well with Swansea last season he wants to go one better this season with us." Bessone joins fellow countryman Luciano Becchio at Elland Road. Like Becchio, Bessone lists Barcelona among his former employers, having started his career in the Spanish giants C team when he figured alongside a certain Lionel Messi. After two years at Barca he progressed to Espanyol and Gimnastic before moving to the UK to join Roberto Martinez at Swansea. In two seasons in South Wales, Federico made 40 appearances. "He knows Luciano through Andrea Orlando at Swansea," added the boss. "They have a similar background and hopefully he turns out to be a similar player."
Glasgow Loon
from the OS:- Televised games and fixture changes... Simon Grayson's Leeds United side will face two early screen tests with the opening two games of the league season, against Derby County and Nottingham Forest, both set for live TV coverage. The first game of the season against Derby County will be shown live on BBC1 and will now kick off at 5.15pm on Saturday August 7. And our second league game of the campaign, at Nottingham Forest, has now been moved to Sunday August 15 (KO 1.15pm) to accomodate the Sky cameras. One other fixture to be moved is the trip to Cardiff City, originally scheduled for Monday January 3. The game has been switched to Tuesday January 4 (7.45pm) at the insistence of the South Wales Police. The two clubs have previously met on January 4 in 2002 when Cardiff knocked David O'Leary's United side out of the FA Cup.
Glasgow Loon
Two more games on Tv according to the OS:- Middlesbrough trip now selected for live TV... Leeds United's trip to Middlesbrough is the club's fourth game of the season to be selected for live TV coverage. The game will remain on Saturday October 16, but will now kick-off at 5.20pm and will be screened live on Sky Sports. It will be United's first trip to the Riverside since August 2003 when a late Mark Viduka goal secured a 3-2 victory. The game also saw strikes from Lamine Sakho and Zoumana Camara. It was also confirmed earlier today that the game at Doncaster, originally scheduled for Saturday September 18, has been selected by Sky for live coverage and will now take place on Friday September 17 (7.45pm). Glasgow Loon
07 Jul 2010 Former Preston defender joins up... Neill Collins has become Leeds United's fifth signing of the summer. The central defender has joined from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee. United have beaten off interest from a number of Championship clubs for the 26-year-old, and he has signed a three-year contract. Neill is no stranger to Leeds fans, having made nine appearances as the club clinched promotion last season. The former Sunderland and Wolves defender played the final nine games of the campaign, and manager Simon Grayson was delighted to complete his signing. "We know all about Neill from last season and what he brings to the club," said the boss. "Neill already knows most of the lads here, but we're pleased we've been able to complete the deal before we go to Slovakia on Saturday. "Neill has plenty of experience at Championship level and he is another important addition to our squad."

Kris Boyd
Marching on together! Things are looking good for Leeds, I'll be attending a good few of their home games next season as I'm moving down that way, I would like to see Leeds get near the play-offs but I'll take anything that isn't relegation really.
ARoverinLeeds
I'm just looking forward to the big Yorkshire derby. Doncaster Rovers will tear Leeds a new hole, i've seen a few pre season games with the lads at work and they don't impress me at all.
Glasgow Loon
We will do well to avoid relegation as uncle ken has not splashed any cash. All our signings are free transfers which says it all. Until we get new owners or uncle ken starts spending we will be in trouble. As someone pointed out on a leeds forum we have no one like charlie adam who will get 15-20 goals from midfield, more is the pity. We also dont have any strikers who would get 20+ goals a season.
Glasgow Loon
New kit available from Saturday... The club's new away kit will be launched at Elland Road on Saturday with the team wearing the kit for the pre-season friendly against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Also looks like Alex Bruce, son of steve is going to sign for us before saturday. Not sure why we need another defender.

greenockraver
By the way.. Something I've been meaning to ask.. How is David Hopkin regarded by Leeds fans and did he do much of note down there? He served me one morning in a shop he owned at the greenock bus terminal. Talk about a fall from grace.

Drunken Hobo
Poor defending there, but deserved goal from Derby. Worrying that Kris Commons is being allowed to stroll through the Leeds defence with such ease. As I type, an equaliser, this could turn into a decent game. Both goals seemingly coming from giving the ball to the opponent in a dangerous area.

sergie's no1 fan
The defending was pretty poor today I'd take 20th spot right now
Glasgow Loon
Can see why connolly was freed by derby he was rank rotten. We also need a sitting midfielder like doyle/douglas as having kilkenny, howson and johnston in their, they all go forward and that why the defence was exposed. Also play sam on the right and watt on the left not the way we played today on the opposite wings.

Glasgow Loon
From the OS:- Gunter charged, along with both clubs... Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have both been charged following a mass confrontation between their two sets of players at Sunday's Championship fixture at the City Ground. Both clubs have been charged under new fast-track rules with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, and have until 4pm on Friday August 20 to respond. The charge is specified as non-standard in line with The FA's new fast-track rules, which can be viewed here. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest's Chris Gunter has been charged with violent conduct following an incident in the same fixture. Gunter has been offered the penalty of a three-match suspension and has until 6pm on Wednesday August 18 to admit or deny the charge.
