Madeleine Mccann Missing Girl

Recommended Posts

Gerry and Kate McCann need to go home, go back to their jobs and instill some sort of "normal" day to day life for the sake of their twins. Still being in Portugal is no good for them.

Madeleine may be in a foreign country or she may be dead, no-one knows. It could be the same as Ben Freeman in as she'll never be found or one day she might return, years down the line.

They need to give their other kids a chance at a normal existence, although with Gerry loving the media circus, I can't actually see that happening unfortunately. Quite sad really. :(

They'll go home when the fund dries up.

Thirded, but if they come home they will require to pay tax on their slush fund. We couldnt have that now could we.

Don't they have about a million in the fund?

I guess that soon dries up what with all the travelling etc.

Totally agree.

You know, everything else aside, what is really chilling about all this is that with the media circus, her photo everywhere and all the rest of the ongoing publicity, noone has a clue where she is, dead or otherwise.

Doesn't give a lot of hope for the poor sods who didn't get the same opportunities to search for their missing loved ones. :(

Personally I think the treatment the McCann's are now getting off some sections of the British Public is very unfair. My perspective is that they don't want to come home as doing that will signal that they are somehow accepting defeat in the hope that the Madeleine is going to be found.

I would agree that it looks very unlikely she will be found alive now - but if you are the parents of that child then you won't ever give up hope until someone gives you evidence to the contrary.

I hardly think it matters whether they are in Portugal or the UK - the kids are too young to know any different and are spending more time with their parents than they would ever do back home.

Yeah it is very strange that they have near enough no leads or info to go on. Although I'm pretty sure the publicity i.e. pictures everywhere reduces the chances of her actually being spotted in public to almost zero.

Most couples couldn't afford to stay in Portugal and would have to return to work, why should they be any different.

I don't think she's going to turn up any time soon so the problem for the McCann's is deciding when to draw the line and come home. They can't stay there forever.

Looks like it has backfired.

Are they constantly left in kids clubs and with babysitters at home as well then?

When they didnt find the wee girl in the first 48hrs and after the ensuing media deluge(sp?) everything has pointed to her being dead.

Is the taxpayer paying their wages while they swan about in Portugal?

I would suspect they will both be off on Extended leave, though I vaguely remember hearing that Gerry had chucked his job. I suspect with his specialisation he would have no problem getting a similar role in the future however.

I know other parents whose children have died have had to return to work after a couple of weeks though. Companies tend to be sympathetic to a point, after which they insist on a return to work.

If they can afford to give up 2 well paid jobs and are using their own money then fair enough but they shouldn't be abusing the fund.

Surely that is what the fund is there for?

I'm not saying I agree with them being given all the cash in the first place but if people are willing to donate it then they might as well use it.

What would you have them do with the fund?

I thought they were getting private investigators and other experts in to search for the girl and to pay for the campaign not to extend their stay in Portugal.

I would never have donated to the fund with the terms they came up with. Shockingly vague and open to abuse.
