Sir Tarmo Kink
That Spirit of Cricket award is a shocker, looks like he is about to punch the umpire every time the slightest little thing goes against him.He told the fans not to boo Steve Smith though
Sir Tarmo Kink
Looks like we could have a future star. Aussie U19 batsman Oliver Davies hit 94 off 27 balls [emoji46]
Sir Tarmo Kink
Windies needed 43 off 18 but Ireland shipped 27 that over so it’s 16 off 12 with 6 wickets in hand
peasy23
Wood for Anderson the only change for England who won the toss and chose to bat. A few scares as you would expect with the new ball, but the openers survive the first hour, 30-0.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Not sure I can get used to England not losing a wicket early on. It’s weird.
Sir Tarmo Kink
167/4 after 71 overs with the new ball due soon. Pitch is pretty lifeless, poor batting and bowling pitch although it is offering Maharaj reasonable turn for a first day. England struggling to score on it though.
peasy23
Wasted review by SA after taking the new ball, Philander convincing them to go upstairs with one that hit Stokes on the leg while offering no shot, but always looked to be going down leg side. Pope has been excellent so far.
peasy23
And one other thing, that band can get in the fucking sea.
peasy23
224-4 at the close, Pope on 39 and Stokes on 38, good steady partnership after losing those wickets earlier.Honours pretty much even, pitch hasn't offered much for either team today.
jaggyness
Pope is quickly becoming one of my favourite England players. Can bat for time and increase the rate where required. A real asset to have coming in at 6
Sir Tarmo Kink
Pope is quickly becoming one of my favourite England players. Can bat for time and increase the rate where required. A real asset to have coming in at 6I think 4, 5, 6 are pretty much stamped in for England now barring any injuries. Sibley & Burns hopefully keep improving to secure the opening spots and Crawley looks okay too. As much as I like Denly, he’s consistent but consistently a 30-50 type player and struggles to go on and make a big score. #3 and #7 are still up for grabs IMO. Buttler can’t have long left.

Sir Tarmo Kink
Surely England's day? They've usually collapsed by this point, and that pitch will be doing something in the coming days.Stokes-Pope partnership edged it for England IMO although it’s not a huge score so the Saffers won’t be unhappy either.
peasy23
Surely England's day? They've usually collapsed by this point, and that pitch will be doing something in the coming days.Maybe just edged it due to Stokes and Pope at the end of the day, but they have started well (after a delay) this morning helped by the Saffers chucking pies. 50 up for Stokes.
peasy23
And quickly followed by 50 for Pope.
peasy23
Rabada fined and given 1 demerit point for his celebrations in front of root yesterday, that point means he has crossed the 4 points in 24 months threshold and will miss the next test at the Wanderers.
peasy23
55 from 10 overs for England so far this morning, with Stokes launching Maharaj for 6 with the last ball of the over.
peasy23
Stokes batters another one from Maharaj right out the ground.

He didn’t really do it towards Root. With no Rabada or Ngidi that makes England to strong favourites for the 4th Test.
