Afghanistan giving things a right good go against a West Indies side who don’t care much for fielding.
Twas ever thus, aside from poor Gus Logie can't remember any Windies fielder trying a leg in the outfield back in the 80s and 90s. Not that they actually needed to mind unless they were retrieving a stump that had flown for 30 odd yards.

It's a real pity that the tournament is losing Pakistan and Bangladesh, and their fantastic fans.

I still can't figure out how New Zealand are in the semi-finals.

Agreed they were terrible but NZ are pretty lucky considering they haven’t beaten another top half side.

Mind you they haven’t lost to a bottom half team either

And a side that lost to the Windies would have been quite capable of losing the rained off game with Sri Lanka

It was still May when Pakistan shat the bed on opening day but NZ’s defeats are fresh in the memory so it seems stranger than it should

In truth, whoever finished 4th could consider themselves lucky.

Like French Rugby we expect Pakistani cricket teams to somehow be able to beat anyone “on their day” but to be prone to humiliating disaster as well.

Which is why as neutrals we would generally prefer them to be in the semis as opposed to the reliable, sensible Kiwis.

5th century in this world cup for Rohit Sharma...
If ever you wanted to set a record, then facing the Sri Lankan attack today would be the one you would pick. They have been awful. Once again though Sharma gets out not long after hitting his ton.

In the other game South Africa hit 323-6 with du Plessis hitting a ton and van der Dussen dismissed with the last ball on 95. 2 more wickets for Starc sees him equal Glenn McGrath's record of 26 wickets at a world cup.
