Tartan Dave
That’s one of the best shots I’ve seen. He has only a few major appearances. Tied for lead and whips driver out on that hole and goes for it

Distant Doonhamer
Morikawa absolutely pulled that shot at 18 there. Great play by him though. Classy interview from Casey.
peasy23
You know it's meant to be your day when you hit your approach on the last nowhere near where you meant to, and it lands 15 feet from the hole.

Tartan Dave
I know this isn’t a gambling thread but happy with my bets on Collin. Dipped in on Thursday night on 365 when I felt he was way too long odds after a solid enough first round.
Guest bernardblack
Jesus. My apologies. This is his SECOND majorThat caught my eye last night too. How was he 12 in the world and had only played in one major?
peasy23
The thing that should worry everybody else was how unflappable Morikawa looked coming down the stretch. There's always an elenent of luck to a chip in, but hardly anybody had hit the green with their drive on 16, far less stick it to 12 feet or so. His one bad shot was on 18 but he got away with it.I've said on here before how impressed I've been by him, thought he looked far better than Hovland and Wolff when they all came on tour last year. Fair play to Wolff for coming so close, and I'm no lover of Casey, but you have to feel a bit of sympathy for him hitting 66 and being just as far away from the leader as he was at the start of the day.

He made 22 cuts in a row, won twice, and had good finishes in the other high ranking events he played, meaning he picked up a ton of points. He's now 5th after last night
peasy23
That caught my eye last night too. How was he 12 in the world and had only played in one major? He's been finishing consistently high up the leaderboards ever since turning pro, he made the cut in his first 22 events, only Tiger had a better run at the start of his career making 25.The US Open was the only major he qualified for last year, and that was as an amateur, turning pro not long after. He secured his tour card for this year after about 3 events, then won the next one. Including last night he has now won almost $7 million in little over a year.

peasy23
Crazy numbers from the player! It's an astounding start to his career and last night's win lifts him up to 5th in the rankings, with considerably fewer counting events than those above him, he only has 40 while No1 Rahm has 51, Thomas and McIlroy 49, and DJ 45.Robert MacIntyre holds on to his 81st spot, Calum Hill next best Scot at 168th, while Russell Knox continues on what looks like a sad neverending downward spiral at 187th.Read an article at the weekend about the long hitters, and a couple of contributers to the article both reckoned Finau would hit it further than anyone if he wanted to. His average driving distance is 307 off of what is barely a 3/4 backswing, he chooses not to swing harder as he thinks he has the right balance between distance and accuracy. Rahm is another who seems to be keeping a fair bit in reserve with the big stick. Seemingly Finau regularly gets 200mph ball speed in practice, but doesn't even try for that on the course.

Currently sitting at 124 in the FedEx rankings and will be looking for a decent finish at this week’s event.

Aye, he was mister consistent without being spectacular, but he has struggled for form going back for a year or so now.
