Distant Doonhamer
Not been watching this but the shot tracker for Justin Rose on the par 3 13th would suggest he shanked his tee shot. Is that the case? Edited May 30, 2021 by Distant Doonhamer

A strange decision to have that thickness of rough next to the water here, you want the shaved banks surely. Ooft, gets the 2. Wee-Bey
**Fantasy Golf Week 21** Keep on truckin Is it pronounced Coke-rack or Cock-rack ? Either way sounds a bit weird imo. Big Jason held off the boy wonder Jordan Spieth down the straight to clinch his 2nd tour win and moves to 22nd in the OWGR and the unlucky 13th in the US Ryder Cup standings. For his troubles, he was rewarded with $1.35 million, a large trophy, a snazzy tartan jacket and a truck ? Ironic really as he has the look, build and temper of a long distance truck driver who murders prostitutes at remote gas stations. Bernd Wiesberger won in Denmark and is now right on the bubble, for the European Ryder Cup team. There's been some shake up in the standings over the last few weeks. Long term leader @J_Stewart is fast fading back into the field like Tony Finau on a Sunday afternoon. After the highs of last week's record point score, @Honest_Man#1 is back down to earth with only 4 points this week, but still has that Race to Whistling Straits lead. Overall Standings 950 @die hard doonhamer 934 @alta-pete 918 @Tartan Dave 907 @J_Stewart 854 @Ro Sham Bo 829 @lichtie23 817 @Mr Kane and the lemon cafe 790 @Avon Barksdale 779 @Honest_Man#1 773 @peasy23 710 @Distant Doonhamer The Race to Whistling Straits 364 @Honest_Man#1 316 @Tartan Dave 308 @Ro Sham Bo 306 @Distant Doonhamer 296 @alta-pete 296 @die hard doonhamer 276 @peasy23 244 @lichtie23 232 @J_Stewart 174 @Avon Barksdale 120 @Mr Kane and the lemon cafe Porche European Open this week at the Green Eagle course in Germany. An American style course with plenty water, a modest front 9 of 3300 yards gives way to an absolute monster back 9 of 4201 yards with 4 par 5's including 3 of the last 4 holes. Casey, Kaymer, Stenson and Ancer all scheduled to play. The PGA heads to Jack's house in Ohio this week for the Memorial at the immaculate Muirfield Village. Perhaps his greatest design, named after the course where he won the Open Championship in 1966 and a homage to Augusta, it famously hosted the 1987 Ryder Cup, where the magic of Seve and Olly clinched a first ever European win on American soil. A top class field have accepted invitations to one of the toughest and well regarded tracks on tour. However, the real question on everyone's lips is 'will Todger Strunk be there ?' Honest_Man#1
@J_Stewart If someone was planning a trip up to do Dornoch, Golspie & Brora (and/or any other better ones in that area?...), where would you recommend basing yourself? Ideally somewhere with decent pubs/restaurants for at night.

Right now it'd be a toss up between Golspie and Dornoch of those three, but will be 100% Golspie in a month or two's time. There're 4 boozers in Golspie, plus the clubhouse (little bit out of the way, but not too far). The Stag is under the same owner and has just reopened (didn't have outdoor facilities), but the other 3 have all been bought out in the last 3 months, so the Caber is going to become a bistro, the Golspie Inn has had a refurb and has just reopened (supposed to be decent), and the Ben is being leased (and then bought) by McGregor's who own a pub in Inverness which does live music and won the Scottish pub of the year a couple of years ago. They're also doing the catering out at the clubhouse now. The Golf Links has a residents bar too, but doesn't operate as a pub anymore, which is a bit of a shame as was a good boozer when I was a young pup. In terms of food, The Trawler is one of the best chippers in the country (wins awards regularly) and can sit-in or takeaway, and the Chinese is a pretty good takeaway. Clubhouse, Stag, and GI all do sit-in food as well, and imagine the other two will when open. Will be up the road at the weekend, so will be able to report back on the GI renovation. Dornoch is decent as well, Eagle, Castle and Coach are all decent boozers and all do food as well. There certainly used to be a decent Italian, but not been there in years, and think it has a couple of takeaways too, but they were pretty dodgy, might be fine now. Brora has the best restaurant with Sid's Spice Indian, but probably the worst pubs, still decent, but there's only really two (The Brae's and the Sutherland Inn) and they're pretty dingy. The Marine is likely the nicest hotel to stay in, and is right next to Brora course, but not sure what the prices are like for staying. Food there is ok and it has a wee bar. Obvious bias aside, I'd suggest Golspie of the three if you can find somewhere decent to stay, it's the centre point of the three and usually has the most lively of the boozers. Tain is the only other place I'd suggest considering, course is decent (although not as good as those three, IMO) and it's a town rather than a village, and certainly used to have some good pubs and a funny little nightclub, not been out there in years though. Has some good restaurants too. Can't really go wrong in any of the four of them for a golf trip tbh, generally friendly wee places.

We are going at the end of this month, sounds like ideally Golspie or possibly Tain then in terms of where to stay.
