Absolutely wild stuff. Was a decent effort to be +6 with 5 penalties on the card. Germany's Hurly Long hit 45 on his back 9 as he ran up an 83.
peasy23
Bob started eagle-birdie today but has dropped two of those shots to be 1 under thru 9.
peasy23
I always enjoy watching the Nedbank, the scenery and wildlife is fantastic. It does look horrendously tough for mere mortals though, and they did mention on commentary today if you ever go to play there take plenty of balls. Daniel Brown had a tough day today, with a triple bogey 8 and a sextuple bogey 10 on his card on his way to a birdie free 85.
peasy23
None of the Scots players at the Nedbank having great weeks. 2 that needed good ones were Calum Hill and Richie Ramsay who were both just outside the top 50 heading for Dubai next week. Hill was 51st starting the week, but he's always been way down the leaderboard and is projected to slide to 54th. Ramsay was 54th and was -7 after the first two rounds and well on his way to climb above 50th, but 76-75 on the weekend sees him finish on level par and projected to drop to 55th. I lost 2 and the 9 s are the other way round so you finish on the par 5 with the water all around it The other course there "lost city" is also cracking and is playable from the back tees for us hackers , on the Gary player nedbank course a lot of the pro tees are only accessible when there's tournament golf there so you play the medals

lichtie23
Just read that McIlroy is already confirmed as the DP champion. He can’t be caught next week. Such an anticlimax

Ramsay had a disastrous back 9 of 41 today after a tidy 2 under front 9 had raised his hopes again. Bob MacIntyre now outside the R2D top 10 after a poor showing this week. MacIntyre 11th, Forrest 35th, Ferguson 42nd and Syme 45th all in the field for Dubai. Loads for them to play for. Bob needs to edge into top 10 to get a PGA tour card. If it's the same as last year the top 30 in R2D get a place in next year's Open Championship.

I read somewhere that it's the top 10 players not already exempt that get a card so Bob's still in a decent position.

Hopefully he can have a good result next week rather than falling over the finish line, but he should be OK for one of the PGA Tour cards.

funky_nomad
Over on the DP Tour Qualifying School in Spain, only 2 Scots have made the 72-hole cut to play in rounds 5 and 6 for one of 25 full Tour cards. Marc Warren seemed odds-on to miss out before hitting -7 for his last 8 holes (he shot 29 for his back 9 with a bogey at the 1st hole (his 10th)) to sneak in with a shot to spare. Some cojones, but he's still 4 shots behind the current number required to regain his Card. Better placed is Kingsbarns pro Daniel Young, who at -9 is one off the mark as it stands. 5 other Scots failed to make the last 2 rounds, as did the likes of Alvaro Quiros, Gregory Havret and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.

David Howell and Ollie Fisher were two of the other bigger names and former tour event winners to miss out. Howell made his 700th appearance on tour not that long ago and is obviously towards the end of his career. Fisher is only 35 though and has a couple of golfing firsts to his name. He was the first player to hit a 59 in a Euro/DWPT event, and was also one of the first players binned by LIV after playing in the first event last year.
