The next round, in order of the brackets, is ...

Phil Taylor vs. Michael Van Gerwen

Carlos Rodriguez vs. Kevin Painter

Wayne Mardle vs. Rober Thornton

Alan Tabern vs. Co Stompe

Dennis Smith vs. Kevin McDine

Mervyn King vs. Mark Walsh

Bill Davis vs. Barrie Bates

Mensur Suljovic vs. Mark Dudbridge

Raymond Van Barneveld vs. Wes Newton

Ronnie Baxter vs. Denis Ovens

Andy Hamilton vs. Tony Ayres

Jelle Klaasen vs. Jan Van Der Rassel

Adrian Lewis vs. Paul Nicholson

Dennis Priestley vs. John MaGowan

James Wade vs. Tony Eccles

Colin Osbourne vs. Vincent Van Der Voort

There's some right belting looking ties there. I'm really looking forward to Walsh/King, Nicholson/Lewis and Tabern/Stompe.

Also this Kirk Shepherd thing ... how many people have actually made the jump from the PDC to the BDO ?

Does that potentially mean Davis v Suljovic for a place in the semis.:o

Mensur Suljovic can beat a LOT of players playing like he did against Manley, and Davis can make a decent show of things if he does what he did to Part.

There's a few players who will be looking to make waves. Thornton being the obvious one.

Colin Monk, IIRC, has made the switch from PDC and returning to the BDO. There has to be at least one or two others over the years.

Infact Kirk is not moving back. Hes confirmed this himself on another forum.

Kirk has only played one decent game since getting to the Final last year (which was pure luck, every player he played at World Champs had at least 1 dart for the match) and that was his last match at Grand Slam of darts, which he was out of already.

He got ideas above his station and quit his job to turn pro, Mark Webster won the BDO world championship and is still doing his plumbing apprenticeship to have something to fall back on if pro darts does not work out.

Shepherd should go back to sheet metal working

I'm applying to play in the BDO Scottish Open. Probably get rode in the first round but it'll be nice to experience it.

Aye I might as well. I'm back playing well with the old thick barrelled brass darts never mind these modern day tungsten ones!

I'm on 29g 80% tungsten. Works a charm.

With such a short format, I don't see why I can't take a couple of rounds out. I have been playing MUCH better with my new darts.

I've got 6 pairs of darts. 23g Andy Fordhams, 19g Peter Manleys, 23g Unicorn Catalysts and 23g Harrows Magnums and another shitty set that must be about 15g and are light as a feather. I go back to the old brass darts I got with my first dart board 6 years ago everytime. I also find flights and stems can also make a massive difference too.

Not sure about flights as I haven't changed them much, but stems have definately made a difference for me. I tend to stay away from plastic stems as, for some reason, they don't agree with me.

Incidentally, I have Fordham 23g which I was using for a while before I got these new darts.

I'll update this post when sets are over, and also with finishes over 40 from now on. I think I just missed one.

I'm sure the commentator said that Dudbridge took out 118, but I couldn't hear him properly. Can someone confirm ?

NOTES

* Did you see Suljovic doing his best impression of Brian Woods there ? Excellent.

* HOLY SHIT ! VAN GERWEN ATE JELLE KLAASEN !!!

* I love how Sky are adding wee thing to their darts coverage as they go, like those shots with the two guys walking towards the camera. It's getting even more like wrestling now. Entrance music and pre-match graphics and build up videos. What next, a promo ?

* Suljovic is a huffy b*****d.

* I could have sworn that I just seen MVG threaten to eat Taylor when he won that set. Taylor has said that he might die soon anyways as he thought you had to EAT Just for Men to make the grey hair go.

* FLIGHTCAM 1000~~~!!! WITH STUPID MUSIC~~~!!!

* 10 Darter after 6 perfect darts from Taylor. Amazing leg in the second set.
