Gianfranco
I’m not a huge rugby fan. I’ve only watched Scotland games on the telly and Glasgow Warriors European games on BT this season. The reason I’m saying that is because I’ve never heard of Willi Heinz and I find his name amusing.
Northsea80
Saracens fielded an ineligible player in their final group stage win over Racing92! Hopefully similar to football the victory is awarded to the opposing team. This would then eliminate Saracens from the competition and Glasgow would take that 8th spot in the knockout stages.

I've just seen that, something to do with his work permit expiring just before the game. I've not seen anything to suggest they are likely to be kicked out to be honest. More likely a slap on the wrist and a small fine.

Northsea80
It’s not being kicked out though. If they follow the football template then their result is void and they don’t qualify because they don’t have enough points. Wishful thinking I know.
honestly united
there would be absolute scenes if the were kicked out of Europe on top of the relegation. I get the impression they are focused now on winning it to prove a point, so the seethe if they were kicked out of that and essentially playing for nothing for the rest of the season would be brilliant!
Virtual Insanity
Precedent suggests a 4 point deduction: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/51415778 Money on it actually happening?
Salvo Montalbano
It’s not being kicked out though. If they follow the football template then their result is void and they don’t qualify because they don’t have enough points. Wishful thinking I know. The football template of course wasn't even used in football, where Hearts fielded an ineligible player but were deducted points rather than having the result reversed to 3-0. Of course that had nothing to do with BT having the next Hearts game live on TV and it being a dead rubber had it been reversed... My own club also played an ineligible player in the Scottish Cup (he played about 2 mins in a 7-1 win or something) and the game was replayed at the other clubs ground. If anything, the football template seems to be "make it up as you go along".

But it's a Scottish team we are talking about.

Getting through to the group stages after losing in the playoffs.
Northsea80
Apparently Racing92 are pushing for the game and points to be awarded to them. This would change the whole line up of the quarter finals as they would new be second seeds. They’re citing that fielding an ineligible player in France comes with a reversal of scores and a 5pt deduction from the team breaking the rules.
peasy23
I really can't see how they can do anything other than dock Sarries points, a dangerous precedent to set if they don't.

peasy23
When will we know?EPCR need to get the finger out pronto, if they award Racing the win it changes the draw completely. Have to be fair to fans making travel plans.
Detournement
The u20s put up a decent show despite losing to England. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/feb/07/finn-russell-row-echoes-past-gregor-townsend-scotland A good Guardian article about Finn and Townsend (and Dodson).
