Detournement
Lol at watching Glasgow get nilled by Dragons and thinking what we need is another team. The Edinburgh squad is on the up at the moment but the Glasgow squad needs a massive refresh. Talk of a third side is crazy just on the basis of playing resources without considering potential locations.

Depth is definetly there, the team that lost to dragons were all** capped to at least under 20 level, Glasgows problems are much bigger than just depth of squad. We do have a shortage of Stand offs but other than that we have enough players for a third team, although granted they would probably be lower end of the Pro14 ** at most 1 or 2 maybe weren't capped at u20, haven't checked the team but there were at least 10 full scottish internationals, Kebble & Thompson both u20 for SA.
Detournement
Being capped at Scotland u20 level doesn't mean anything. Most of the guys capped at that level don't turn Pro. There is nowhere near enough depth for a third pro team without crippling the other two teams when the internationals are away.
afca32
The Glasgow squad does not need a massive refresh. It's largely the same squad that took them to the final last year, and they had an exceptional record while the internationals were away. Their problems this season largely stem from 9 and 10 and with Horne and Hastings back that issue should hopefully be eased. They should've done more to try and replace Hogg over the summer and another 10 should've been brought in at least for the World Cup but other than that there is not much wrong with it.

Introducing a new team would be a short term step back to hopefully achieve two steps forward in the medium termAnd that would still be the case if Edinburgh and Glasgow were both flying high. And imagine the moaning there would be about breaking up a European cup winning teamThe depth isn’t there to have a 3rd team but we can’t increase the depth without a 3rd teamAgain it depends on whether you think that the SRU should be concentrating on the six Nations or the Pro 14 but I think it’s a nettle that will need to be grasped

For me Swinson, Harley and Gibbins are done. That leaves a big hole in the back row although they do look stronger at lock. In the backs they are short at 10 and the whole back three needs a revamp. Niko, Seymour and DTH are probably the starters and they are all over 30 as is Lee Jones. Jackson is done and Rory Hughes is decent for run of the mill Pro 14 but gets found out a higher level. Bryce isn't good enough.

afca32
I would agree that some of those players aren't what they were but to call them all done is harsh. I do think Gordon and Smith have been unlucky not to get more game time. The wingers are ageing but they are all still very good players and there are young players to break through.

Gibbens is a never was, Harley and Swinson are solid pro's as back up to Fagerson, Ashe, Wilson hardly a big hole, just missing an out and out openside as again Fusaro is getting on, and Smith is still a bit raw. The wingers are fine when you add Steyn to the mix as he is more winger than centre
Mark Connolly
I still wonder if they'll look at Dobie as a French style 9/10 hybrid. He played plenty of both at Merchi, and is a class operator. Somebody needs to tell tonight's director to stick to the narrow shots until the smoke disappears
Detournement
That was some poor reffing. A free kick against the Kings on a use it call when going forward. Then calling use it against Glasgow going forward then awarding Glasgow a penalty.
Mark Connolly
Bonus point already. I know the Kings are gash but this is much more like it.
GAD
Glasgow look a lot better when they have a fly half playing.
Detournement
Kings are a rabble. A small part of me is wishing Frisbee and Thompson were playing to make it interesting. But we have Niko to keep it interesting!

peasy23
Niko can be utterly ridiculous at timesBoth in good and bad ways, but that was sublime. A bonus point win was a must tonight so to start like this is very pleasing.
