Presumably he beats them in training, otherwise he wouldn't be taking the kicks. Still weird to see him playing such a prominent role at atop-table club. He wasn't even in the three best back-line players at Edinburgh.

He was the fastest though.  Like in football, pace covers a multitude of sins.

As competent as he looked on his debut, I’m not sure Paterson has the pace to be an international back three player.

Making up the rules as they go along again?

Shoulder direct to head, with force, high degree of danger, can see it from far away and has plenty of time to get lower or change the attempted clear-out... I don't know how "genuine attempt to clear out" overrules all of that.

I think the whistle had already gone too.

Arrested...

Charged...

Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg charged by police - BBC News

Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg was arrested outside his ex-wife's home last weekend, according to a report. Hogg, who retired from rugby ahead of the World Cup last year, is said to have been arrested on suspicion of causing fear and alarm by acting in a threatening or abusive manner last weekend.

He appeared to have attended an event alongside various celebrities, posing for photos with the likes of actor Martin Compston and chef Greg Wallace, to watch his former side take on England in the Six Nations at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium. However, he was just hours later arrested at his old family home in Hawick, Roxburghshire, at around 5pm on Sunday.

Police were also reportedly called at the start of the year when Hogg was, according to The Sun, involved in a boozy New Year's Day family bust-up at his brother's house. Hogg, who now carries out occasional punditry work, split with his wife Gillian last year just weeks before the birth of the couple's fourth child, and soon went public with his relationship with jockey and Sky Sports presenter Leonna Mayor.

Seriously messed-up.

Ex-Scotland rugby captain Hogg ordered to stay away from estranged wife - BBC News

Hogg pleads not guilty - but ordered to stay away from wife, after being charged with failing to comply with release conditions

Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has been ordered to stay away from his estranged wife and her home in Hawick ahead of his trial in the summer.

The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty to a domestic charge of acting in an abusive manner towards the mother of his four children when he appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court. Not guilty pleas were also entered into causing fear and alarm during a disturbance in February, and not complying with an undertaking following Mr Hogg's release from police custody.

Mr Hogg, who was accompanied to court by his parents, was granted bail with special conditions not to contact his estranged wife and not to enter her home in the East Boonraw area of Hawick.

The former Glasgow and Exeter fullback retired from rugby union prior to last year's World Cup having amassed a century of senior caps and been involved in three British and Irish Lions tours. He remains Scotland's all-time leading try scorer and was awarded an MBE in the 2024 New year Honours List for services to rugby union.

Mr Hogg will return to court on15 July for an intermediate hearing ahead of his trial on 30 July.

League structure for 2024-25 season confirmed (theoffsideline.com)

To surprise of nobody: Super 6 collapse sees league-less sides parachute in a tier up from their club XVs; with 3-down-1-up next season to return to 10-club divisions; allowing Premiership pay "to be reviewed".

Super 6 itself is going out with a whimper... Glasgow A failed to fulfil their game at Stirling on Friday, claiming they hadn't enough front rows and couldn't get any from other academies or clubs.

With a whimper? It's going out the same way as Dodson, then.

Just watched the whole of the Glasgow game without knowing the score first, and glad I did. The Warriors are everything Edinburgh aren't: cussed, resilient and mature. Those 2 points could be priceless.

Wasn't even within a million miles of the most debatable decision in the match. That was when Snyman hit Healy late, it lead to the usual petty shoving, absolutely run-of-the-mill stuff that always ends with nothing more than captains being told "we don't need that" yet somehow Munster got a penalty.

Yet again a referee doesn't deal with Munster's skullduggery around the ruck. I'm so completely sick of hearing refs shout "hands off" four times to the same player. If you need to shout more than once they've slowed the ball down and it should be a pen. Conor Murray pushed it way too far and got a yellow for it, but he probably prevented a try.

There's something deeply unlikeable about Munster that the other Irish sides don't have, though Ulster have by far the worst fans I've ever come across.
