Hearts B 2-2 Linlithgow Rose

Whilst Ainslie Park really isn’t a great place to watch football, the cafe (?) was handy for some pre-match Tennents and a bit of heat at half time. Entertaining game in which Linlithgow were the better team for the first hour or so and spurned some glorious chances. Hearts made a couple of changes and finished the game the stronger of the two sides, including missing a sitter in the last minute.

Jeanfield Swifts 3-0 Cupar Hearts

Part one of a very silly thing today.

Scottish Cup 2nd Preliminary Round in Perth today for a first visit to Jeanfield against last season's amateur cup winners Cupar Hearts.

The early kick off appealed, as it did to a lot of people and there was a great crowd here today. Loads of people who are going the St Johnstone v Dundee after this and plenty folk up from Fife.

A Jeanfield penalty in the first few minutes and many people must have been joining me in thinking that this would have been a tanking, but despite their domination in the first half only a fantastic freekick added to their total. An injury to the Cupar defender meant 11 minutes of stoppage time, it actually did Cupar a big favour as it broke up the play and Hearts came far more into things after that.

A flurry of excitement at the start of the second half sees Cupar claiming for a goal and a penalty. Both of which correctly not given in my opinion. A late goal puts a bit of gloss on the scoreline. Jeanfield a far better team but Hearts held their own, both fans happy at the end.

Riverside is a wee bit boring. Fantastic on a day like today but don't fancy it much in Winter. At least Jeanfield mean you can laugh at people when they say St Johnstone are the only team in the Universe with a letter "J" in their name.

Western Lge Premier at Castle Road : Oldland Abbotonians 2 Street 4 att 75+ decent stuff spoilt by over fussy ref, playing with his yellow cards. 10/11/21/22 then a screamer for 23. Oldland caught napping at the back, trying to get back into the game. Much changed ground, now fenced off to stop vandals etc and building work around the clubhouse.£6 prog £1.20230902_1640252.thumb.jpg.a273826edb5433ba29aa03245d302062.jpg20230902_163513.thumb.jpg.109e7c1e3c648a05f44a0599e0e44842.jpg20230902_145753.thumb.jpg.4baedac47865f5387678065fe169d5bc.jpg

Inverness Caledonian Thistle V Dunfermline Athletic.

Championship.

Ticket £20, no programme (free teamsheet).

Well it's only taken 35 years since my first game on 3rd September 1988 at Douglas Park, when I watched Hamilton Reserves v Celtic Reserves. Though technically you could argue 7th October 1992 for Celtic V Hearts at Celtic Park was my first of the 42. But I've finally completed the Scottish league 42.

I've sadly missed out on visits to Boghead, Love Street, Firs Park, Broomfield, Kilbowie and Annfield. But managed to see games at all the rest of Grounds occupied by clubs that have relocated since 1988. Though with ex league clubs I can also add Shielfield, Central Park Cowdenbeath, Meadowbank Thistle and Gretna. Though Glebe Park is one still need to tick off.

My last league ground on the list was Inverness Caledonian Thistle today. ICT on a run of 6 straight defeats really needed a result against a slightly better in form. Pars team. The match watched by 2388 including a good support from Fife seen a scrappy game where both teams worked hard to win the game but lacked the bit of quality needed to get the three points. ICT took a 12th minute lead against the run of play when Nathan Shaw fired a 20 yard shot into the corner of the net to take a half time lead. The second half was as even as the first and Dunfermline really should have scored when Owen Moffet when on a many run but his powerful shot was straight at Ridgers. The visitors weren't to be denied though when on 80 minutes a header from a corner luped over Ridgers head for the equaliser by Hamilton. A well deserved point for Dunfermline and frustration for ICT. But the home fans should be happier with a battling performance.

I'm liking those wee 'stands' which are more like booths in a pub.

Culter 3-2 Blackburn United. Didn't much fancy the trip to Dumfries (oops), so first trip over to Crombie Park for quite a while. It's not changed much, although you now get conventional plastic cups for your Bovril instead of having it made up in a mug which you had to bring back. Wasn't sure how North Juniors champions vs EOS Division 1 would play out, on this small sample size there's not much in it. Could have easily gone either way, Blackburn have a couple of tricky wingers but the forwards had a bad habit of shoot on sight, and several of those in the second half ended up over the fence and into Bieldside. Culter's winner was a cracking wee finish, although both their conceded goals were very defensively weak, and the second one made the last few minutes of the game more nervy than it should have been.

Really lovely day relaxing on the grassy knoll in AB14, and a decent game for six quid. Around 200-ish crowd.

TSV 1860 München 1 - Erzgebirge Aue 2

After many years of being a Löwen fan from a distance I finally made it to see them at the Grünwalder Stadion.

A beautiful sunny day for my first experience of German football, had a lovely afternoon drinking beer in the Giesing neighborhood with the locals, the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible, beer and big sausages on sale what's not to like.

The game itself was a classic 1860 performance - they started well and looked really comfortable until they scored then sat back and invited pressure, of course former 1860 striker Marcel Bär scored the equaliser and after that it was only a matter of time till Erzgebirge got the winner, disappointing result but a fantastic day out.

einmal löwe immer löwe💙🤍

😅. Aye, He refused to sell his ticket for St Mirren away at Love Street...!

Moves to Scotland in 1993, got a season ticket for Celtic for most of that time and went to away games, then only hime games for a few years as couldn't always get time of work for every game rather than random games.

Now I actually prefer to watch random games as its more enjoyable.
