As you say, those aid workers were hunted down. "Tragic mistake" does not remotely cover it. Yes, yet the response from the U.K. government is, to say the least, muted and the response from the government-in-waiting even more so. The SNP have asked for a recall of Parliament to discuss this; the request doesn’t seem to be getting any coverage from the MSM. Our complicity in war crimes is shameful and inexplicable.
TxRover
This is likely the continuation of a long trek by the Israeli Government unless they move to change now. Much like South Africa there will be a move toward ostracism and boycott, however it will be much slower and less impactful than what happened with South Africa. The slow separation of the Jewish support around the world will be almost unnoticeable to outsiders. The terrible side to this is we’re talking easily 40-60 years to see any impacts, let alone a solution, unless Western leaders are willing to stand up sooner. The holocaust is wielded like a shield by far too many on the hawkish spectrum in Israel. They have created a mythological backstory to the creation of Israel that is at odds with reality, the reality that both sides had “issues” with behaviors and that the West simply displaced people to create Jewish enclaves in Palestine. The West, as a whole, is hesitant to act due to their complicity in the horrific events leading up to, and during WW2, with the MS St. Louis simply being a symptom of the disease. The strength of the approbation from complicity has informed U.S. policy since, and we see its continuing echos in the responses here by the U.S. Government and influencers.
welshbairn
Seems some Israelis have taken against TVP, a Polish English language TV channel that interviewed their Ambassador. Apart from accusing Poles who protested Israel's behaviour in Gaza of being anti-semites, he three times refused to answer whether the IDF would have bombed the convoy if they thought there might have been someone they suspected of being linked to Hamas onboard. That's what I think probably happened, collateral damage is no longer part of their calculations. https://tvpworld.com/76772819/exclusive-full-interview-with-israels-ambassador-to-poland-yacov-livne Edited April 4 by welshbairn

Thistle_do_nicely
Somewhat horrifying that the proliferation of drone/remote weapons also gives a convenient "out" for war crimes tbh...

Dunning1874
Presumably a retaliation for the Damascus consulate bombing. If this turns into an all out war the whole thing's fucked.
MONKMAN
The terrorist state of Israel’s decision to bomb the Iranian consulate was always going to get a response. I sincerely hope the UK don’t get involved.

Dunning1874
The likelihood is that Israel are actively wanting a wider regional war: no chance of public opposition in the US and Europe to the slaughter of Gazans ever being reflected in governmental decisions on arms sales, UNSC resolutions etc if they end up at war with Iran, not to mention Netanyahu wanting to keep himself out of prison. More pressure on the US to give even more support to Israel rather than withdrawing it.

HibeeJibee
Ukraine-Russia has its throwback to WWI with the remorseless reliance on artillery barrages... now Israel-Iran has its own to WWII with in essence sophisticated V bombs, or the Blitz without pilots.
