highlandcowden Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Been on them a couple of times for the airport. I prefer the bus. Mind you extending it to leith would improve the service. am going out to the airport next week.is the bus actually quicker? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lambie's Pigeon Feed Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Back on topic, how can Edinburgh city council justify this decision whilst there are planned job cuts across the council?? Reeking of double standards. Pretty sure infrastructure spending is different from normal council stuff. The redundancies all over the public sector are a fucking disgrace though. am going out to the airport next week.is the bus actually quicker? Pretty much the same, bus has nicer seats. welshbairn Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 am going out to the airport next week.is the bus actually quicker? It is early in the morning, but the tram doesn't run then anyway. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
LongTimeLurker Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 This won't bloody end. Once they get Newhaven, they'll then want to loop it back to the West End too. Which I'm sure we won't be able to afford either. That was the original plan and should be cheaper to do given there is an old railway alignment involved most of the way. ~~~ Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 What a farce this has been, Hopefully the Scottish Government won't put a penny towards it. Edinburgh Council can pay for it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

~~~ Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Apart from the city centre of Glasgow which needs no help from anyone You know Bridge Street isn't in the city center? Its not even on the same side of the river Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Grim O'Grady Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 Like Philpy said the council are budget cutting like crazy & it seems like they are going to replace frontline services with a tram line extension. I wonder if there was a survey done of tram users so far how many off-peak users would be folk with a "free" pass? That said I love Leith & all it's foibles & I would say yes to the tram going to OT. The current system is useless to me but I would use it if it went down to Leith. Grimbo Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
vikingTON Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 Pretty embarrassing for the chumps claiming that 'Throbber' is a good poster and not an utter moron, when this tedious, attention-seeking exercise is what he brings to the table. ~~~ Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 You can walk to city centre in 5 minutes, you would need to walk 50 minutes from princes street to find such human destitution Fucking hell I know exactly where it is, and its still not the city center Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
LongTimeLurker Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I live in Glasgow. There is a reason why our trams are now in the museum. Which is that the subway was in place and the railways that were built in and around Glasgow tended to make a lot more sense from a passenger service standpoint than the ones in Edinburgh like the South Suburban ever did, because freight was the major consideration when they were being built. ~~~ Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I love it how thats the bit you highlighted and not the bit when i called you a bell end. Bridge street and Tradeston areas are the city centre, we stayed near the Carling academy with our friends and i could walk to Argyle street in about 7 minutes so thats pretty much the city centre its not like we were out in Anniesland. Its not the fucking city center. You can keep saying it all you like, you'll still be wrong. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~ Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 It is - anywhere thats within a 5 minute of Argyle, Buchanan or Suckmybaw street is city centre. Stop being so aggressive about it. Its not you fucking idiot. The city center doesn't extend south of the Clyde. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

~~~ Posted November 21, 2015 Share Posted November 21, 2015 The carling academy is in the city centre, as is Bridge street and Tradeston. - its like the same as Leith walk and Lothian road in Edinburgh, not quite Princes street but still city centre. South side of Glasgow is city centre to about 1 km south of the clyde. Its not the city center. The Carling academy is in the Gorbals area. Stop being such a clueless clown Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
