  1. @Frank Grimes & chessbassguitar. @Uncle Psychosis My dad is in hospital and he's taken a turn for the worse sadly. I probably shouldn't have pitched in to the cup as something like this was pretty likely to happen, but I was missing the smell of the board. I'm not going to be able to play my match properly so I'll have to resign. Sorry for fucking things up a bit
  2. TBF she was giving reasons why the Edinburgh numbers might be climbing (are they? I haven't even checked) and people not being fully dosed could be a reason for that. Kind of on topic, one of my mates has been double dosed and her husband single dosed and they both caught it last week. Fine now, but def symptomatic. Anyway, she's a bit of a geek and looked up / worked out the chances of catching it in those circumstances - apparently its broadly a 1 in 500 (0.2%) chance if you've had one dose, and 1 in 3333 (0.03%) change if you've had both.
  3. Both vaccines 33% effective against symptomatic disease after one dose https://www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n1346
  4. I really don't understand the reluctance to vax up either. They must see the data from Israel and us, and realise that getting as jaggy as possible as quickly as possible is in their interests.
  5. We used snipes as a punishment for holding cards at the end in switch (no of cards = no of snipes) Absolutely brutal stuff. Decks of cards covered in blood etc.
  6. Fucking hell. That thread is absolutely bonkers
  7. We have an intricate JUMPER or WHITE or ANYTHING ELSE system and it works quite well.
  8. It was the zx81. I was slightly overestimating its k
  9. Was the zx81 only 1k? Fucking hell. I was about 3 so remember piss all about it, or what he even did with it. Pretty sure it was hooked up to a B&W portable altho why I'm unsure.
  10. Beyemistic, Lord haw haw anawl. Proper old school posters. Were they banned or just drifted away
  11. Yes I had this. I'm starting to realise from this thread that my love of computer games was given to me by my dad who would always buy cutting edge for the time tech like this for me - he programmed with the earliest computers for a living. Hence the speccy 48k and the 16k thing he had before that whose name I can't remember. Just sinclair maybe? It had a completely flat 2D keyboard Edit: behold, the zx81
  12. Pretty bizarre that story. Brought in travel restrictions for specific areas, but didn't actually publicise it, stuck it on a website and that's it. Wtf. Some nhs worker in a hospital in (I think it was) Bolton wasn't even aware they were under new restrictions.
  13. Somebody said c**t in another thread tho. The horror
  14. He took a break. Might have asked to have restricted access to his account / banned to make sure.
  15. Ahhh I had that mate, must have been early 80s. Fucking hell. Also had a pacman one that was in the shape of pacman.
  16. Board game wise, quite enjoyed 221B Baker Street - like a big boy's more complicated Cluedo. Seemed to be a lot more craft involved in inventing board games (for kids) in the old days rather than just firing some brown slime out a plastic dog's arse (and slapping a paw patrol sticker on a cheap bit of plastic as @coprolite implied) such like that I seem to come across constantly when looking for non-electronic games for the boys. Maybe I'm just a fucking snobby c**t mind you
  17. Especially not after he disparages her professionalism then puts the boot into her, rightly or wrongly, on an extremely public forum, offering a few hypothetical rationales for her behaviour.
  18. Honestly? Fucking hell mate, I've been looking for you all my life
  19. Speaking of unusual football games, I had this for the spectrum 48k (or may have been the amstrad 464 depending on year): Brian Clough's Football Fortunes. It was multi-player only, and was a football management computer game board game hybrid. The computer rolled the dice (?!) and you moved around the board, buying and selling players in auctions, and getting injuries and suspensions and all sorts of shit that impacted on your match day squad. Then on match day, you'd input the sum total of your def, your mids and your atts and the game would generate a vidi-printer result, league tables, fixtures etc It was English leagues only, but had both cups as well (not sure about Europe.) Me and my mates used to spend many a rainy day when it was too mingin to actually kick a ball outside playing this, genuinely hundreds of hours poured into it. Never once have I spoken to anyone else who had it or even played it.
  20. Loved that thread mate. A proper forum service ♥
