  1. Just looked it up. They can be present on the floor of the house and debate as far as I can tell, but they can't vote or propose amendments. There are a lot of laws that apply to England and Wales, so Welsh MPs aren't treated quite the same. I dunno, I think that's quite a barrier to a Scottish MP holding a high ranking position - an open goal for any opposition at the very least. I can't see either party going for it despite the fact the could.
  2. An MP of a Scottish constituency could not vote on laws that only apply to England, meaning that a fair bit of parliamentary business would be closed to a Scottish MP. I'm not entirely sure that they explicitly *can't* be PM, but it would be such a hamstringing as to make it extremely unlikely to happen. The same, goes for minister of health and various other high ranking government positions. Are they even allowed to debate this stuff? I don't think so
  3. Sorry to say this mate, but going by these ads it looks like fb have you marked as a cheap, tight b*****d willing to cash in any old shite to get a few extra bob in your pocket. Is that a person you recognise?
  4. Can't answer your specific question, but FB ads are targeted blud, so have you been considering selling your gaff and browsing some sites, and maybe that's why you're getting hit with them? My ads are all constantly the penis reduction surgery ones for eg. Sounds a bit like webuyanycar for houses - probably similar... gives you a low ball offer but happens extremely quickly and you don't need to go through all the rigmarole of lawyers, home reports, closing dates and stuff? Then they're left with a portfolio of gaffs they can punt on at their leisure for a tasty profit. Note:this might all be incorrect.
  5. Ah I didn't know that. I'm not au fait with the personalities involved here being honest. Edit: actually I did know he had had a stroke now I think about it. I didn't realise that was related to the house though
  6. There's nothing quite like grifters calling grifters out for grifting.
  7. He does say it's not his final final decision. Reeks of just doing it so people beg him to stay and he feels like a big man. Wee ginger dug also seemingly v v lucky lockdown exists or he'd have had his face smashed in it seems too. Comes across like an extremely stable but frighteningly dangerous lad that wings. Doubtless a fantastic fighter. Don't cross him.
  8. I don't think he said you weren't allowed to say the shit you say. Just that you're an absolute c**t for doing so.
  9. Couldn't agree more. At my old work we would have a "surprise" do at morning interval at the staff base. It was a pretty small department, 8 or 9 folk or so. People would bake and bring in snacks and all sorts. Everyone would chip in for a gift, then we'd all sit round the big table and chat all interval with everyone smiling and me the centre of attention etc. Lovely lovely people, not a nasty bone in any of their bodies. Would have been quite happy to hide in my room or have the earth open up and swallow me whole. Agonising stuff.
  10. Another belter of a blog on the Queen's speech by David Allen Green. Cannot recommend him enough as a follow on twitter if you don't already. https://davidallengreen.com/2021/05/this-illiberal-queens-speech-is-the-next-step-for-authoritarian-populism-after-brexit/
  11. The system itself doesn't need to be corrupt for it to favour one party or another - just the implementation of it is enough. If its difficult to get the cards, or expensive, or you don't trust the government, or a million other reasons why you might not want to have to carry papers with you to vote - well if that "type" of person tends to not to vote for one particular party, then that party will benefit simply from this being implemented, no matter how fair, transparent and legitimate it is.
  12. What, is it unfair, opaque and illegitimate just now? In what ways?
  13. Some of the comments on that that thread are brutal
  14. Maybe to reflect the seriousness of voting we could make it that only those who own a house can vote? Or possibly only those with a cock in their pants. I suppose that would cause yet more issues with self id though. Woke idiots. I mean I don't know anything about it, but christ knows it's far too easy to vote as it is. People fought and died on the beaches of Normandy so we can vote and now any old scruff can just wander up to a polling station and place a vote without even really thinking about it. Absolutely outrageous. I mean, I've not personally heard of any voter fraud (well apart from what I've read in the paper about the West Midlands and certain parts of London wink wink) but one things for sure, it needs tightened up. You absolute fucking moron.
  15. Why should voting be made more difficult. In any normal democracy the more people who vote the better, so surely it follows that the easier it is to vote the better
  16. Can't see a topic so thought I'd start one. Looks like compulsory voter id is getting sneaked into law in the coming year or so. Apparently to cut down on voter fraud which doesn't really exist as far as I can tell. Pretty controversial atm in the US as it is being used as a means to disenfranchise poor and minority voters. Is this just another copy / paste of GOP policies from our own cuddly fascists, or is it an acceptable way to legitimise the voting system. Over to you, P&B
  17. Finally nabbed one on argos. Bring it
  18. The leadership put forward none of this to the electorate instead, those of us who engaged, did so with fucking nutcases on twitter doing the above. Is it a smear to say they were trying to oust NS from her constituency when they were? My impression was that a smear had to have some element of mistruth about it. You were linked to wings. Whether he appeared in the party brochure is meaningless. I'm a first vote snp 2nd vote AN Other, exactly the target audience. I didn't see alba behaving like you said they did. I saw them behaving like I said they did.
  19. Whether you like it or not, the vast majority of exposure people who spend time online had with Alba were their supporters. You had a deeply unpopular leader, weeks out of a court case that no matter the verdict left him looking particularly shady to the public. Not to mention he'd just dragged the FM and Govt through an enquiry that outside twitter seemed to be nothing but a revenge motivated ego trip. You had supporters actively rooting to have NS lose her seat, spreading rumours about her, advocating spoiling ballot then alba on list, if not openly suggesting to vote tory/Labour then alba on list. There was pretty open hatred of trans people, combined with the questioning of the morality of LGBTQ+ people, accusing them of supporting legalising sex with children. The leadership did nothing to quell these messages. You were inexorably tied up with that arsehole wings, who has descended into open bigotry, hatred, and personal attacks against politicians who are extremely popular with snp voters. The whole message was wrapped up in explaining to voters they were too thick to properly understand the voting system There was absolutely nothing positive about the alba campaign, certainly not the vast majority on supporters online or even candidates in some cases. If you want to put their farcical showing down to a lack of time and resources, batter in, but I think even the most cursory glance at the last 6 weeks would show that there were far more, far deeper issues with how they presented themselves to the public than just cash and time.
  20. Like I said, it depends on the procedure. If they are in about your blood, or down your throat /in your mouth/up your nose then that's an extremely high infection risk.
  21. It depends how invasive the procedure you were in for was. I had a gastroscopy and had to get tested and isolate for (I think it was) 4 days before it. My dad went in for a skin thing and didn't need tested at all Edit: same hospital.
  22. Interesting to see alba supporters on twitter going on about how they were the only party standing up for women's rights, and they're 50% of the population etc. How come hardly any women voted for you then meights?
