Martindale's done a heap of repentance for what his wrongdoing, and no one thinks Lennon is a great guy. Reign yourself in. -
Conference League: The Vote
morrison replied to Sparticus's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Brora were making 'pro' noises initially, but that was the view of one man at the club. They stated last week they were voting against it after fan feedback. -
When did County declare? Missed that, but relieved if true.

Thistle themselves did it the last time they were up, which I was assuming was jagsfan57's point. Two clubs going from top six one season to relegation the next will be new. So that's exciting.

The General Ross County Chat Thread

I've not been back either. Half considered going to the play-off game, but don't fancy it. At this point, it'll take Roy going to get me back to Victoria Park. I've enjoyed taking in a few non league games over the past couple of seasons. I'll keep doing that. That said, I'd still rather we stayed up. I suspect relegation isn't enough to change the current manager anyway, sadly. -
Killie vs County, 28/05/23

Ah yeah, I can see the trip to Inverness is doable. I'm not getting a train back to Dingwall but there'll still be bus options. -

To be fair, it's the same situation on Saturday. But at least traveling back on Sunday isn't a work day for most people. And Monday's a Bank Holiday, by coincidence this year... Why are they on Sunday anyway when none of them are televised? -

They're not impeding anyone's progress up the pyramid though, and there'll only be one next season.

First Among Equals: EOSL First Division 2022-23

Smashed their target in two days. What an effort, and great to see folk rallying round. -
True. I did initially have a bit in about him accidentally helping the good guys, but decided I was rambling a bit so took it out.

He hasn't raised a good point at all. He's angling for the removal of age restrictions in the B teams to help him get and keep his overage players fit. That's not what they're supposed to be for - it's allegedly player development. And he's even named Hagi and Matondo, non-Scots, as explicit examples. I don't blame him for being self-serving. He's no interest in our national game or our leagues. There's half a chance he's accidentally helped, but his aim was very different from where most fans want to get to.

Yeah, this is part of the issue. The trick is not to give these cretins an inch, because as they've shown, they'll take a mile. There's no compromising to placate everyone here. Defeat this motion is the only option, in the same way the SPFL clubs have previously got the colt teams motion swept off the table without even going to a vote, such was the emphatic nature of its rejection. We can't allow this concept to be normalised. It's much, much harder to remove them later as the Netherlands and Norway are discovering. There's no tangible benefit to the national game of their existence. And no, it's not worth 'seeing how it goes' either. Apologies- the rant isn't aimed at you specifically, I promise! I came across a thread on Twitter suggesting a compromise, too (which I'm not sharing to save your poor eyes) and it depressed me.

Craigroyston 1 Thornton Hibs 0; EOSFL Second Division. Massive win for the home side that takes them out of the relegation zone with 2 games left to play. Thornton Hibs managed to get two players sent off near the end, both for dissent over an incident they weren't involved in. Impressive. Crowd of about 65.

The first – of I'm sure, many – posts from Ainslie Park for Spartans 1, Albion Rovers 1. A fair result for a game of almost no chances.
-
The voting rights won't be affected in fairness - I'm sure I read they're upheld. So in theory that gives 6 more clubs (or 4 if the HL didn't replace clubs?) a vote. Still not worth it. And what happens at the end of the 5th 'guaranteed' year of B team financing? One of them decides to pull out, and the money's gone? They're suddenly allowed to be promoted, so the funding's gone? We're left with a 10-team league with no crumb between them.
-
I'm not even sure why HL clubs would go for this. Who gets to decide only 2 of their clubs get the privilege of remaining at T5, when 4 LL clubs do? Are they not the same level? Playoffs at least? No direct promotion either; another effing playoff. Piss poor stuff.

'Details' on the proposals here and a few more if you jump on the their feed:

That's good to hear. Clearly, a club paying to put a second team into the middle of the established pyramid, relegating 200+ clubs in the process, isn't equitable. I look forward to a sensible proposal being put forward after appropriate consultation with all clubs in due course.

Yeah, I chuckled at that. You actually clicked on it, though, so more fool you.
