  1. I have 10 exams so they were never going to be well spread out, but I have 4 of my hardest ones on consecutive days which is a bit annoying.
  2. I have all my lectures across the road in the maths building, so I go there for my bottles of juice and newspapers and suchlike.
  3. I hate how you can't get near the QMU without folk in daft t-shirts thrusting leaflets in your face. The daftest thing is how seriously they take the whole campaign.
  4. Not out. One ball left. Left by Onions. Draw.
  5. Appeal from South Africa for a catch behind. They're using the review, but I think he's OK.
  6. Two more to go. Tried a yorker but Onions fended it off.
  7. It was quite scary going down it on the bus to Dundee at lunchtime today. Visibility wasn't great at that point, and that was in broad daylight. Fortunately there wasn't any snow on the way home.
  8. It is now illegal to play table tennis on Tuesdays. Did you not hear?
  9. Even guys like that are more than good enough to see them promoted into the Championship. I'd imagine they'll manage to clear out a lot of the dross in the summer when they go up.
  10. I reckon they will get to the Premier League before Cardiff.
  11. I've had two Saturday exams since I started uni. The first was 9:30am til 11:30am , and we were away to Hearts that day, so I met my brother in Glasgow after it and headed straight through to Tynecastle, still with my ruler, calculator and pens in my pocket. We won 2-0 and I got an A for the exam, so it was a good day. The other one was another morning exam last year, but Killie were playing on the Sunday anyway. I have heard of folk having exams on Saturdays at 2pm, which would be a disaster. I have a recurring nightmare that I am going to have one at that time on the day of the Scottish Cup final or a relegation decider or something.
  12. Haven't you previously posted about having attractive girls in your classes being one of the "perks" of helping in tutorials?
  13. University unions often make decisions for ethical rather than financial reasons though. For that same reason, I can't buy a KitKat in the QMU when I want one.
  14. I have 4 statistics courses this semester, and 4 next semester - all 100% exams. I also have a course running over the two semesters which is approximately 66.7% coursework and 33.3% exam. I don't think there is much choice but to have a 100% exam for the likes of Probability, Inference, Linear Models etc. There's not much in the way of coursework which you could do.
  15. Not for everyone - it's calculated based on your parents' earnings. I went to all the effort of applying for it in 1st year, and they sent me a letter back saying that the whole amount was under "Parental Contribution", and that their contribution was £0.
  16. I'm quite happy at home though. I get on really well with my family, but at the same time I can easily spend time in my room myself or go out and do my own thing. I know that I would get by fine living on my own or in a flat or whatever, but it's not really in my character to desperately need something like that.
  17. I've commuted to Glasgow for two and a half years now. It's absolutely fine for me. I can still go nights out and either get the last train home or stay at one of my friends' flats.
  18. We've started doing group projects this year for 3rd year Statistics, and I think our system works well. We are allocated to a group, given a project to work on, and one of the group members has to present it to the rest of the class. We are put into different groups each time, and every class member has to present once through the year. After the presentation, we receive feedback, and then go away and each member of the group has to hand in their own report. It is these reports which we are marked on. This means that you get some experience of group work - which I think is important because it will be something you need in the workplace - but you don't run the risk of your grade being affected by having some complete moron in your group.
  19. I saw them a couple of months ago when I was through in Edinburgh visiting my girlfriend. I think they had a logo of some sort on the polo shirts with something written underneath. I can't remember what it said though.
  20. Point me to the part of my post where I said only students did it.
  21. It's an observation based on personal experience. I currently attend Glasgow Uni, and I see numerous people around the campus wearing "Glasgow University" hoodies. As if you couldn't guess which uni they went to from the fact you were walking about the campus of it. I have had a number of classmates who have worn these hoodies, and to a man they have been the sort of twats who do 'zany student' things like stealing road signs and drinking beer out of shoes.
  22. As has already been mentioned on here, people who were university hoodies to their own university are generally twats. The same goes for society hoodies - particularly if they are accompanied by some sort of "humourous" slogan.
