I've got to be honest, whilst it's kinda funny, it's the only upside to finishing 6th and not 5th as that would have definitely been us today and I'm not sure we'd even turn it round in the 2nd leg.

Forfar are spewing now !!
Nah they'll be through regardless, surely? Plus they'll probably fancy their chances against us .
We really need to get our shit together with this competition. No excuses for constantly making a meal of these groups.

Ah well, we won't hear a peep from Dundee or Morton fans for a couple of days now.
Much better this week, Strain can't leave. Simple as.
New strikers getting amongst the goals early, always good to see.
Arbroath were absolutely rotten though. Could have been 7 or 8.

StJohnstone have the best 2 strips combined out of everyone.
Dundee's is also a corker.
Probably the best 3 kits in the league as well.

Well McGeady won't be at the club unless we play Ayr Utd
My favourite part of the transfer window so far.
Thank f'ck. I couldn't have supported that rodent in the stripes.

Maybe I'm getting Imrie and Harkins mixed up a bit.
Imrie just didn't seem to fit us (always looked a world beater against us), Harkins (again looked like Zidane against us) seemed like he was waiting for his pay off from day one and his heart was never in it.

Whenever I've seen Strapp play he looked decent. Always got stuck in against us, played like he genuinely hates us (no bad thing).
Really handy long throws too.
Looks like he has served his time in the championship and has earned a step up, if I'm not mistaken.
Wouldn't mind signing him as long as he didn't turn out to be another Dougie Imrie.

Begone you b*****ds...
Expected him to get attention, maybe even get offers for him.
If we lose him, with everything else that's happened this summer, I'll start to be concerned.

United have confirmed the signing of Moult.
Thank f**k for that.
Now fingers crossed for some other mugs to announce McGeady.

Olusanya is the man. Jamieson is a better bet than Mandron and Grieve
Is there any chance that Olusanya could somehow do a turn for us?
I'm not talking about starting every week, I'm more meaning throw him on with 10 minutes to go to cause some chaos if we are chasing a game?
Seen more from him than Grieve this pre season, which pains me to say. Both probably not good enough at the moment though.

I have no issue with the format, just the timing of the start of the competition.
The summer is traditionally when clubs do the majority of their transfer business and to have a major cup competition start on July 15th when clubs are still trying to recruit and get fitness is unhelpful.
True.
No excuse for the team we fielded last summer or the team on Saturday to lose to part time teams though, as it will be even harder for them to recruit and get up to fitness.

Our goals per game with him in the team was higher than when he didn’t play.
The problem is the same problem since Robbo started. We are backs to the wall sorta team. Can’t dominate games.
Aye, we were a better team in the first half of the season with a fit Gallagher in the team, especially at home. Not many teams could touch us.
Loved big Joe though, he slotted in fine after months without game time.
Harsh to say we bottled europe, our squad just ran out of steam. We couldn't afford to run with the team we had in the first half of the season.
Easy to say as all teams had injuries and suspensions but if Ayunga, Tait and Gallagher were fit and we didn't have to sell Erhahon we were right on course for a european slot.
It's all hypothetical though.

To get it wrong in one season is bad enough, to do it again is nothing to do with the format. Get your team prepared properly and stop whingeing.
Its not just the last couple of seasons. We have failed to qualify a few times from ridiculously easy groups (on paper, obviously).
Probably the price for winning the thing in 2013.
Our record in the Scottish Cup after winning the trophy in 87 was abysmal for more than a decade.
I think Robinson is trying to keep things calm. Same when we were on a high a few times last season.
To blame the league cup set up or lower league teams with plastic pitches is daft.

Emmm..... results wouldnt seem to bare that out.
Or should it be "bear" that out.
I'm sure I will be inundated with suggestions
Mid table table in the Premiership or mid table in the championship.
I know what I'd rather have but whatever floats your sinking boat .
We deserve a ribbing for today right enough, shockingly poor. Last season Arbroath and Airdie done us in the league cup as well.

Sign a 2 year deal in March to then spit the dummy, surely he won't be expecting a pay off?
There's always 2 sides to a story, which we don't know, so I won't totally throw him under the bus but we have to back the manager on this one.
If there was a fallout after the Rangers game, my worry is he has had enough time to identify a new number 1 and has went for Hemmings.
I'd rather have used Urminsky for the pre season & league cup and taken the time to find a genuine number 1, than been 'rushed' into signing Hemmings.
Can look at it both ways.
I'm hoping it's just the case of we can't do anything until Carson is away. Not panicking, plenty of time until the transfer window shuts.
Definitely not an ideal summer for us though. Hopefully a professional performance today with a good result and we can start talking about football than off the pitch stuff.

Maybe Curtis didn't have a big money move lined up after all?
I'd take him back, but certainly wouldn't break the bank Brophy style to sign him. I also wouldn't mind seeing him rock up at a Kilmarnock or Motherwell. Robinson is the only manager that seems to get a tune out of him.

I seem to remember a league game at the beginning of last season v Aberdeen where Carson lost a couple of poor goals, and there was a similar reaction of fans shouting that he was nowhere near the level of Jak Alnwick.
It’s a tad early to be writing players off after a couple of pre season kickabouts.Difference is Carson was a proven goalkeeper at this level.
Again nothing against Hemmings but that's just a fact.

Well that bullshit I've watched highlights on scotsport n the grounds no more than half full maybe over 5 the odd week but I'd be amazed if its over 6 average without both cheeks ot the same arse
They only get the one stand, same as every other team.
We had bigger attendances against Aberdeen, Hibs, and Killie. Possibly United too I'm sure.

We are going to shit the bed with this league cup group aren't we? .
In all seriousness I was hoping the annual meltdown could have been avoided this summer after what happened last season.
Pretty much why I avoid friendlies now, they are brutal and mainly for the manager to tinker about and see who's up to scratch, who's not, experiment with a few things.

So has the name been released on Twitter yet or is still a big secret?
I don't have a clue but if i was to put money on it, the persons name sounds a bit like Greenock Morton.

Having seen what Robinson managed to do with Curtis Main, I definitely am not writing anybody off at this stage.

Hope I’m wrong but find it pretty hard to believe we are looking for as many as three more.
A left wing back is a must, and I suppose if Baccus is leaving we need another one in there but hard to see what else we need unless someone else leaves.
Do we have cover for Strain? I know Fraser can play there, Flynn at a push too (poor choice of words I know).
Ideally get someone in like Tait who is reliable in a couple of different positions for full back/wing back left and right sided.

There’s more chance of you signing for Dundee United than Curtis Main!
Seeing a pattern develop with our ex manager falling out with players.

Nah they are unfortunately.
Folk were dishing out abuse in the first minute of the first game of the season against Montrose. What chance you got.
The only upside to finishing 6th behind Hibs is that would have been us getting humiliated today.
