I think the only reason we haven't had any players in or out is because our league has been canned and there is uncertainty as to whether it will restart. I'd be more worried if they were happy to go the rest of the season with this squad.

Where are you seeing this?

Sportsound mentioning that an 18 game season is being considered for league’s 1 & 2.

The lowland league or lower leagues?

Interestingly also mentions that he has approached the person he wants in as a development coach. Wonder who that may be.

The Partick Thistle thread

At our club's EGM last night our Chairman revealed that some clubs are looking for the season to be mothballed with a real chance of it happening. He's looking to press to play it over the summer and has spoken to clubs who are of the same mindset. Not a clue what the split is between each though. -
I can't see any Premier League teams being keen on loaning a player to a League 1/2 side after the leagues have been shutdown. Sending him to Arbroath makes perfect sense.

Time to call the season, imo. Tally the points up and give out the prizes.

I’m sure I read our televised game against Rangers on Premier Sports made us £26k so sadly not a great money spinner without crowds.

Was Gus not well thought of by St Mirren in this exact role? Neil McCann may have a lot of good contacts and be more suited to this role rather than as a manager? I’m not 100% sure what skillset is required to produce a good DoF so couldn’t support nor write off either of the two rumoured candidates.

Two bald men fighting over a comb here - they're both absolutely rotten.

Time to shake hands with M&M and thank them for their efforts. Absolutely clueless.

Falkirk's loanee goalkeeper PJ Morrison recalled by Motherwell this morning. -
All of which would walk into our team. I don’t buy this thought that there are no decent players available in January either. Previously we’ve recruited DKD and Burgoyne who both improved our squad. Last season Callumn Morrison was up for grabs and Raith Rovers signed Maclean who became vital to winning the league. With no reserve football being played there might be an even better chance to sign a youngster for the remainder of the season. It’s a massive window for M&M as we desperately need to avoid signings of the De Vita/ Deveney mould.

Bairns v the Grandweans of Section B

I have a soft spot for Airdrie as a club. My other half's family are all from there and I have attended the odd midweek game when Falkirk haven't been playing throughout the years. Their fans are slightly nuts but were easily the best at our place last season in terms of atmosphere and numbers. There has always been a bit of rivalry between the two sets of supports which always makes for good games. I'm surprised at Airdries downfall this season to be honest. Last year Murray had you playing very direct but effective football. It was good to watch and you thoroughly deserved the win at the Falkirk Stadium. You haven't had many departures apart from Roberts and Smith; yet are really struggling. What exactly has went wrong? Hopefully you turn it around after tomorrow and keep Cove outside of the play-off spots. Tomorrow our side picks itself with Alston on the bench meaning Telfer and Connolly both keeping their places in the team. Any more news on Keena? Is next week still realistic for him to return? This will really add pressure to Sammon and Dowds to perform tomorrow. -

Forfar Athletic vs Thistle - December 12th
wee_bairn replied to R&Y99's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
Ended up watching this game yesterday instead of ours as I refuse to give Clyde/Goodwillie a penny. I thought Thistle were absolutely chronic and terrible to watch. Brian Graham was like a man down. For a team with a good midfield I was surprised with the amount of direct football played bypassing them. Gordon seemed to improve things when he came on but he appears to be a bit of a boo boy on here? Defence were excellent and the boy Sena looks a pler. So so comfortable on the ball. Forfar still looking an absolute gang. -

Thistle will undoubtedly turn the corner. We started the league last season in a similar fashion before emptying Ray McKinnon. We were playing catch up from that point and never managed to top Raith whilst having a slightly better points per game average once Miller and McCracken took over. Big question is how long will McCall be given to turn it around? -
Falkirk v Peterhead - 05/12/20
wee_bairn replied to ilostmyself's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
That boring football is more down to playing strategy and the players at your disposal. 4-5-1 is effectively 4-3-3 when attacking. It would provide our top goal scorer, Callumn Morrison, a lot more freedom to play with a midfield 3 able to protect him whilst defending. With Dowds/Sammon supported by Connelly, Alston and Morrison I think it looks far more dangerous than any combination of Dowds, Sammon and Francis. The dynamic will obviously change with Keena back in the fold but until then I'd rather play our best 11 players available and work with a formation that accommodates them.
