  1. I think it's hard to read too much into the game given how depleted Dumbarton were. One thing for certain is I'd be starting Sammon over Francis. I'm hoping they stick with that defence as well.
  2. Big mans’s 8 today and still only drinks water from a glass.
  3. Unpopular opinion but I felt Raith were streets ahead of us but lacked someone like McManus up top. Hendry and Matthews dominated the game in March. Had their ‘keeper not got injured I reckon they would have seen it out. Doesn’t matter now though. What’s still true is we’re an absolute gang and painful to watch.
  4. We missed Gomis in the middle, no other midfielder we have actually wants and demands the ball. Miller actually puts effort in to run away from both Hall and Durnan which is criminal. With the players available I think we need to be going with 3 in the middle. Gomis, Todd and Alston preferably. The break from the league is a godsend next week.
  5. So let me get this straight.... ~3500 people are put off going to Firhill due to the weather and the £20 entrance? I think a more likely answer is that it's completely made up.
  6. Was Akeel not one of Gow's trialists brought to the club?
  7. Airdrieonians 1-0 Clyde Cove Rangers 3-1 Forfar Athletic East Fife 1-1 Dumbarton Montrose 2-0 Peterhead Partick Thistle 1-1 Falkirk
  8. I tend to agree. It’s promising he is getting into these positions to have 3/4 great chances each game but definitely needs to be more clinical. I thought we were very good yesterday but probably more so because East Fife were that bad. Such a poor looking side with very little pace in it which Morrison exploited in every attack. They’ll be battling for the wrong play off spots going on yesterday. I like the flashes we see of Leitch but he still goes missing far too much. Great feet and always looks to play forward accompanied with a great strike as well. Good to see Alston control the game as his match sharpness increases. Only negative for me was Ben Hall. Out muscled constantly and definitely the weak link of the side. Hopefully Kelly is ready to start next Saturday.
  9. Can you not elaborate on your earlier comments by providing facts to back up your claims? Maybe best sticking to pass completion and dangerous attack stats.
  10. You're probably not miles off that we are paying close to Hamilton, Livingston and St. Johnstone on 'certain players'. However; I'd suspect our season ticket sales are at least double over each club so it's hardly a surprise regardless of the league we are in that we can pay 'certain players' those type of wages. We had the exact same chat last season with Tidser's wage then it became apparent that it was a load of rubbish. This season I can only really see Alston and possibly Keena being on a higher wage than our average. We've also lost out to countless players this season due to wage demands. (Foster to Thistle, McManus & O'Hara to Dunfermline being key examples.) As Shadwell Dog posted, we made a profit of £269,000 last season in league 1 which suggests we are living within our means. (Albeit around half of this sum was made up of previous player sale clauses.)
  11. I’d agree. Durnan over Hall every time for me. He’s better in the air and far more aggressive. Distribution from both is similar which should be helped by having Dixon in there.
  12. Yeahp, I’d suspect the budget is well and truly gone unless we are trying to loan anyone out.
  13. When you say changes in midfield are you alluding to a new player or mixing up the current squad? Badly need the injuries and fitness levels to pick up rapidly in what is already a short season. Keena back for Thistle would be ideal.
  14. Sean Kelly signed for us - thoughts? What position does he play?
  15. Is Kelly a centre back? Always thought he was a LB?
  16. Clyde 2-1 Peterhead Cove Rangers 1-1 Partick Thistle Dumbarton 1-2 Airdrieonians Falkirk 2-1 East Fife Forfar Athletic 0-2 Montrose
  17. Totally agree. We never dictate play or seem to have any sort of game plan with an approach to attack sides. We knew last year that Miller and Gomis don’t work together but here we are still trying the same failed tactics and formations again. We’ve re-signed far too many jobbers like Telfer, Leitch and the two centre back diddies. This season especially there was a wide selection players available and we’ve made a bit of a arse of it. No disrespect to Forfar but we should be blowing away teams of that standard at home. Even before the sending off our play was disjointed resorting to long balls that never looked to be troubling Forfar. I really want M&M to be a success because of who they are but I’m seriously doubting their ability to carry out the job now.
  18. Deveney has signed for Falkirk on a season long loan. What’s he like? Has he seen much first team action?
  19. I started to read this post in the voice of Ray McKinnon.
  20. Aye. Cause for optimism but also still some cause for pitchforks. "Gowser" can f**k off anytime he likes for me. He’s not at the AGM so hopefully that’s a sign...
  21. No disrespect but Forfar were probably our easiest fixture last season. 11 goals for, 0 goals against over 3 games. I did however watch your highlights vs. Dumbarton and it looks to me as if you have improved over the break? Are any of the new loanees impressing? God knows how we are looking on the injury front so I'd take a 1-0 last minute penalty win for the 3 points. If fit I'd be tempted to line up: Mutch Mercer - Miller - Durnan - Dixon Morrison - Alston - Gomis - Todd Dowds - Akeel
