An absolutely fair point but I’m having Oliver as one of the worst because he signed for us twice, playing at a different end of the park each time, and was mince at both. So it’s like a 2-for-1.

Maybe didn't come with much expectation though due to the level he was previously playing at (both times)? Different from the likes of a John Kane or Kevin Finlayson who came in with plenty of experience and pedigree and ended up being utter charlatans.

Mind Duffy started playing Gavin Brown at left back to accommodate Kane?

Michael Oliver is one of the worst players I’ve seen in my lifetime at Clyde.

Over both spells. Rubbish as an attacker, rubbish as a defender.

He was bad but I could name about 10 or 20 worse without much of a problem. What a crock of diddies we've had play for us over my time supporting.

Quite like the away strip. Has a Genoa/Cagliari look to it. Not sure about the home though. I know it's the same design but the blue maybe seems a bit too light coloured for a Blackburn strip?

Aye the shade of blue is slightly lighter. Similar to the 19/20 kit.

Compared to this effort from last season

Still love the new one but. For more comparison Rovers have used these home kits in recent years  As a nod to the early days where it was the most frequently used shade of blue.

While I'm on this subject I'm sure Crystal Palace have just brought out a new 3rd kit that basically looks like the above 2.

Difficult to judge what team we actually are, preparation has not been good and the early signs are we'll struggle for goals again but I've been quite happy with the way we've tried to play even with depleted squads. Hopefully Faz can add another striker before Saturday to give us an option when Orsi tires.

How easy is Broadwood by public transport? Doubt a bus will run and am I f**k driving and staying sober whilst I watch Boaby Jones score against us.

Few quid in a taxi from Croy station. It's within walking distance too if you fancied that. Out the station and down the road to your right towards Balloch roundabout. Take the Smithstone cut off and a short walk through that street takes you out at Broadwood Cars which is right next to the ground.

If we're going to be starting Jones semi reguarly, then it has to be up alongside Goodie, not Goodie playing attacking mid or left wing to shoehorn Jones in. The midfield need specific roles and responsibilities too as all of them have shown some positive signs individually so far but as a unit it's not quite there yet.

    Mitchell
    Cuddihy - Balatoni - Page - Livingstone
    Splaine - Gomis - Kennedy
    Love - Goodwillie - Cunningham

I think is our strongest hand at present. Jones on alongside Goodie if the game requires it.

We've signed Lewis Jamieson on loan from Saint Mirren and I see he bagged some goals for you last season. How did he get on for you during his loan spell? Anything he was particularly good / bad at?

Came in and done well IMO. Left footer who can play through the middle or off the right hand side. Quite pacy and direct. Actually ended up our joint 2nd highest scorer last season.

Best goal he scored for us was the second one here to give a glimpse of what he's capable of

Before all our summer business I was hoping we could get him on loan again but obviously St Mirren want to test him at a higher level. Keen to see how he gets on and if he plays reguarly as I notice you have the likes of Billy McKay, Shane Sutherland and Manny Duku already.

  6. Richarlison has turned into prime R9 with a hat-trick in the opening half hour against Germany.

Only recognise a few from each team. Dani Alves, Douglas Luiz and Richarlison for Brazil. Benjamin Henrichs, Max Arnold and Max Kruse for Germany. The superbly named Stefan Kuntz is the Germany manager.

I started a Scotland save as well and couldn't convince anyone to join, not even Karlan Grant. Robbo also retired at 30 for me, we qualified for the World Cup and I asked him to come back and he said aye, came back for 2 years then retired again. Goalkeepers are a fucking mare, Robbie McCrorie has well over 100 caps for me

Aye I was stuck with Craig MacGillivray for a couple of years before regen Joe Moore came through.

Might actually go and play my Scotland save later. Got a transfer update recently so it would be like playing this coming season and have been updating it accordingly with transfers since but not started a save yet cause I don't know who to go

  8. My highlight of the game was one of the subs doing a pish down in the far corner during the second half.

Despite Goodwillie assisting, scoring and coming the closest he has to scoring an overhead/bicycle kick, he was pretty anonymous in his deeper role. Indeed his assist for Jones was about the only time he made a run for a ball dropped in behind the defence instead of coming short where he'd then end up too far away from Jones. Jones, for a player that clearly lacks a bit of confidence, took that goal really well btw. It's also clear Love and Cunningham play better coming inside than they do trying to beat their man on the outside.

This Group is wide open but there seems to be total lack of interest by the fans. Certainly from a Morton pov a lack of signings and a wall of silence coming out of Cappielow means fan engagement is non existent I just hope we can put put out a decent enough team tonight to avoid a thrashing.

Certainly for us discussions about our games have just been on our own thread more than in here.

Looking forward to tonight, suns out, first away game since before the pandemic and should be a decent game with both sides still having a chance to progress.

ETA do you know the crowd situation for Cappielow on Saturday yet?

Any idea if you boys will have tickets for away fans for the opening day, or is it likely just to be home fans?

There's been away tickets on sale for both our home Premier Sports Cup games against Stranraer and Killie so far so would imagine away tickets will be available for the league games too, especially if we're allowed more through the gates now after going down to level 0.

  11. I would go strong as possible too. Not only do we have a chance of going through but we've also looked disjointed a lot of times in both games so far, particularly in midfield, which could do with some addressing before the league kicks off.

    Mitchell
    Cuddihy Balatoni Page* Livingstone
    Splaine Gomis Kennedy
    Love Goodwillie Cunningham

*Rumsby if Page still not available.

  12. I think Montrose at 16s for League 1 is generous given their performance the last 2 seasons (4th both times, but not too far away from the title points wise, albeit shortened seasons). A good squad that hasn't really been broken up an awful lot over the last few years coupled with the likes of Falkirk, Airdrie and Alloa flattering to deceive in the transfer market then they have as good a chance as anyone at the title IMO. An excellent manager in Petrie too.

Their first 5 fixtures are Airdrie (A), Clyde (H), Peterhead (H), East Fife (A) & Dumbarton (H) so potential to get off to a flyer.

I went to both Clyde vs Stranraer and Clyde vs Killie, as I live close to broadwood.

Gomis was like two different players, comparing between each game. Had a much more composed game against Killie.

Left back had a nightmare first half against a very experienced Burke, but the half-time change worked wonders.

lucky not to concede against Stranraer and lucky not to concede more against Killie, but it was a decent second half performance. Ally Love was dangerous.

I thought Gomis was quite slack in both games to be honest.

Said on our own thread but a combination of Mitchell making 3 or 4 brilliant saves and Killie not maintaining their tempo that saw them race into a 2-0 lead really prevented a cricket score yesterday. Was fearing the absolute worst after 20 mins. Done well to claw our way back into the game but we barely had a sniff after scoring.

As you say Burke was tearing Docherty to shreds and I thought McGinn for Killie was good aswell in the middle of the park.

  14. Thank f**k Killie seemed to calm down a bit after making it 2-0 as that could've been anything they wanted it to be had they maintained their tempo. That coupled with Mitchell having a great game prevented a cricket score.

I get the feeling Docherty and Mortimer themselves are astonished they got a deal with us. Nowhere near it at this level.

  15. Lethargic performance from us tonight, just about getting over the line with the 1-0 victory but if Stranraer had a better striker they would've won that game by a couple. Energetic showing from them with some neat and tidy play through our midfield although partly down to our aforementioned lethargy. Will rightly feel hard done by that they came away with nothing likewise with Gomis escaping a clear second yellow card.

Not really sure what to expect from Killie on Saturday as they've practically a whole new squad but we'll definitely need to be better than tonight.
