  1. I'm in the meh camp but there's a good chance he'll come good; he knows how we play, which is a plus, and surely he'll be better than what we have. PS - On the other hand he's obviously enthusiastic about the Rovers and keen to do well; we could have brought a go-through-the-motions jobber in, a la Duku.
  2. If so widening SP would more suit our open style of play. I remember when Rangers reduced the width of the Ibrox pitch for a European match against a Russian team noted for their slick play. The Russians were furious.
  3. Every team knows their pitch and how the surface plays. The difference with wind prone places like Gayfield is that they know how the wind behaves around the stadium. As RIG says oppositition teams are reduced to hoofing the ball in these conditions while Arbroath will have a much better idea of how he wind affects the speed and flight of the ball. It's a clear advantage.
  4. Some Arbroath fans are ferociously defensive about their ground, making up all sorts of excuses - "the same for both teams", "our players train in Perth so aren't much more familiar with Gayfield" type shite. I called it Galefield once (which is the experience of many teams) and I was the c**t that shot Bambi's maw. But managers and players know better - as McGlynn says, "no team can play Gayfield like Arbroath".
  5. I also suspect we will win the league, given even breaks on the injury front for a change and we get our forward line sorted out.
  6. McGlynn gave an update on all signings and loanees; Keatings was the only one who wasn't mentioned. He even said that McKaywas returning from Edinburgh City, so we can take it from that he'll be staying with you.
  7. I don't think his form has dropped, teams are now marking him out of games.
  8. Our corners are either taken short or crossed to the back post to be headed back , we dont seem to like straight forward corners.
  9. Or maybe Zanatta with Poplasnik as he has a bit more physical presence
  10. I'm not a Gullan fan but I think he'd be an improvement on Varian and Poplatnik. We're short up front and if he's the best that's realistically available we should get him if we can.
  11. We've lost our momentum, lost a lot of our style and fluidity and haven't a striker worthy of the name. Nevertheless I think we'll win.
  12. Unless we can get a striker who can score goals any expectation of winning this league is a delusion
  13. The ref might correct things at Benedictus' next foul. Get him off.
  14. You're right. I listened to his interview, ostensibly a preview for this game nd was mostly general background waffle that would apply to any game.
  15. Maybe Yogi has some tactic up his sleeve to confound us. But, he never struck me as being crafty...
  16. An attacking team, with Varian AND Poplatnik. I would have kept Zanatta tho, after the way they couldn't cope with him when they were last here.
  17. As for our striker situation there's a strong hint in that Squad Summary that there's more player anouncements to come "after all the relevant paperwork has been submitted and approved".
  18. We're a bit split on how good he is, some thinking he's the answer to our striker problem while others like me think they're over rating him. IMO he's a good team player but not as a main striker, he didnt score many for us.
  19. I hope Stanton gets his clearance to play, the midfield clearly needs him. Great to hear McGlynn mention how other coaches are saying "what a signing he is".
  20. An appropriate comment at the start of the interview about armchair experts on who we should or shouldn't sign. Doubtless a dig at the denizens on here..
