  1. Aye more or less; not so much Glasgow but mostly from the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire coalfields, specially when Rothes opened.
  2. I always saw them as one stand, one being an extension, but technically I think you're right.
  3. Montrose are a decent team - were Falkirk that bad or did Montrose make them look bad? Anyway, despite claims of lack of motivation I fully expect Falkirk to put in a shift and go for it today.
  4. Yes, there was a long delay in the site updating. You should read bsck some of your comments...
  5. Once again you're offering your opinion as fact. The fact is, we'll never know, neither you nor I. It's well past being too late to care; I have my thoughts on the matter and you have yours, you should accepted that at the beginning.
  6. I'm sorry that my opinion that moving up to the north of the town when we had the opportunity was a good idea has caused you such consternation and anxiety. Can you quote where I said I want us to move?
  7. "I’m sceptical of this from my own personal opinion." Well, if I'm as rational as you I'll say I'm confident of my position from my own personal opinion.
  8. "I’m sceptical of this from my own personal opinion." "100% speculation from you" "flying along the A92" You seem to have some obsession with this. Yes, it's mostly speculation, but 100%? And as to your arguments about clubs moving to outskirts, Stark's Park "isn't in the middle of town" either, nor anywhere near it.
  9. What was the wind like, it's been gales here and I hope it's not too bad at Falkirk tomorrow. I wouldn't like to think what it will be like at the Arbroath Forfar game
  10. Why would you expect me - or any Raith supporter - to know or care how much St Johnstone's crowds have been affected by moving to McDairmid? As I said I would assume (guess) that it has improved with the better access, infrastructure and facilities: I doubt many St Johnstone fans can put a figure on it..
  11. As I said, McDairmid isn't far from where Muirton was so walking is not an issue, and it's not "out of town". Better parking and access will suit supporters from all over Perthshire - Crieff, Dunkeld, Kinross, Aberfeldy, even Pitlochrie, and many more. Do you really think that McDairmid was a bad move for St Johnstone?
  12. The distance from Muirton to McDairmid is more or less insignificant. Better parking and road access, and also the nearby P&R should be expected to boost the gate compared to them still being at Muirton, but who can say by how much...
  13. Yes, I think you're right, the game when Vaughan hit the post in the last minute.
  14. i would say that's definitely a factor - teams with a successful tradition. There's also the "negative" of that, as it were - how often have we had a big crowd at a game, attracting lost or former supporters only to flop and send them away with a shrug, never to return; that play off with Alloa at Stark's is a case in point.
  15. Your points are arguable, although the train and bus stations aren't all that near the ground, and the limited parking at Beveridge Park isn't great (for big games anyway). I don't think the newer "lego" stadia like Airdrie's, Livi's, St Johnstones etc are that bad, and much better than rows of pillars. The context of suggesting a new stadium to the North of the town was being more attractive to the 40,000 residents of Glenrothes and nearby towns; I wouldn't think that would affect our Kirkcaldy support. So yes, being nearer a bigger population centre with easy aess and parking I think would have increased our support.
  16. According to the Beeb its to be 70mph winds until tomorrow morning, easing to about 30mph by 3pm. A lot depends on the direction of the wind - if it swings round to NW as it appears to be then it won't be coming directly across from the exposed side of the ground.
  17. Yes, I agree things have improved, and no doubt the following generations identify as Fifers, besdies - as you say - folk flitting up there. If we had taken the opportunity to build a new stadium up near the bypass we would have attracted a lot more from Glenrothes/Leslie and Markinch.
  18. Yes, it was never a Rovers stronghold. Moreover, Aberdour is mostly Pars, Markinch is East Fife territory, and Coaltown of Wemyss is a third the size of Thornton. That leaves only Cardenden/Bowhill and Kinghorn/Burntisland with reasonable Rovers inclined populations. These are small compared Inverkeithing/Rosyth and Dalgety Bay, and Dunfermline is traditionally supported from Crossgates right up as far as Ballingry, not to mention several West Fife villages. Just checking the map shows that Dunfermline has a much bigger fan base.
  19. The fact that I've ruffled Dunfermline feathers from time to time is entirely irrelevant and trivial compared to your constant inaneness.
  20. And as a matter of fact, while I've hardly been near the Pars thread for weeks you're a frequent poster on other teams threads.
  21. Thats the third time you've jibed about my supposed frequenting of Pars threads, then when you realise I don't you're reduced to saying I'm paid to stay off them. Almost everything you post on here is simpleton drivel.
  22. Falkirk has seen off Arbroath twice fairly recently, so there should be no presumption from us.
  23. You're a byword for ridiculous team suggestions - sorry I didnt notice that you weren't being serious for once.
