  1. European games being postponed due to French clubs not travelling due to the new strain of Covid. Will be interesting to see when they try and get them slotted into the calendar
  2. At approx £3k a week thats at most £60k out of the £500k we have been given.
  3. Get them back at 1pm tomorrow and get it played, best option all round
  4. So having had a quick check, Old Glory have 2 Scottish qualified players Mungo Mason (brought up in NZ, played 1 game for Edinburgh and capped by Scottish 7's) and Steven Longwell a 30yr old ex Ayr prop. They have signed Callum Gibbens though, and a few other familiar faces London Scottish seem to be down to a handful of scottish qualified players and doesn't seem to be anyone at Stade nicois either
  5. Kebble coming in should hopefully get Glasgow closer to parity in the scrums. Good to see them starting with Thompson as Thomson looks devoid of confidence at the moment, and probably not up to scratch anyway. Think I would have went with Griggs and Jones at centre and Bryce at fullback - not suprised he is off to LA as he has hardly been given a run of games. As an aside, when does our new US franchise kick off? Its going to be strange that we will have 3 development sides, (them, LS and Nice) yet all the youngsters are going to be need to keep Glasgow and Edinburgh going
  6. I had expected Watson to go, as surely he could have been on a lot more in the Premiership?
  7. Aye, had a look at going back to the same hotel last year and its down to 3 star level at best, looks like as the tourist economy has gone not suprisingly the hotels look run down. Its a shame as it was well worth a visit
  8. Cockerill hinting at signings are lined up from the Premiership just needing to be finalised, but overall a smaller squad for next season.
  9. I dont think he could go anywhere last Jan due to his other loans (which scuppered his loan to us), and he did play league cup games for Ipswich, and was on the bench for a few league games which stopped him going out on loan in the first window. Must be about 5 choice CH at Ipswich at the moment.
  10. I think the opposite is true, my friends and I only got into them because of the film, probably would never had heard of them otherwise
  11. From my perspective it's down to Kerr's lack of man management skills. He has everything else but I don't think he has that arm round the shoulder chat personality. In jobs outside of football all the time you see people promoted to the managers job as they are really good at the job, but are rubbish managers, whereas people who are rubbish at the job make great managers. That's how it looks like to me both Kerr and McArdle have all the coaching ability, the tactics, signed some cracking players technically, but just don't have the ability to motivate the team. They either need a couple of players in to do it on the park, or a coach / assistant.
  12. If he did why isn't he doing it now? Even without an armband, you would think if you had those qualities that the team is crying out for you would be doing it anyway?
  13. i dont think who we get if anyone up front will make any difference. we are crying out for a captain, either at or CM, we need someone to drag the team through the tough times. If we can get that one player in January then we will be fine, although its neve that easy. It easy to get the right player technicaly its getting the personallites thats harder and where we have struggled this year. Player wise we have looked excellent, however its just not clicked on the park. Sometimes its not the best players, but what they add to the team that counts
  14. Quite like the look of that, assuming changing to 4-3-3
  15. DL managed to put together some of the best teams in living memory -a front 4 of Teale, Hurst, Walker and Reynolds - and the premier league class signings of Hughes, McGinaly, Annand and Gray, but managed to dismantle them just as quick. As others have said the cup runs were fantastic, the league form was dreadful. The league season when Hibs won the league was probably the best team I have ever seen, only the team from 2 season ago have got close. But as others have said, with the money spent we should have done much better, and it always depended on who his assistant was if we did well - Frank Connor seasons for example was excellent, but the style of play depended on who was in doing the coaching
  16. They would have been better keeping the Cheetahs, and looking for another team (ie a franchise in Spain, Georgia or Russia), you could then have 3 pools of 6, play everyone in your pool twice, then everyone else once for 22 games. If you put all the SA teams in one pool would have saved on a load of travel
  17. Idea is this a pre-curser to the Pro16, all not agreed yet on Pro16 details still being worked on but hoped to be in place to start Aug/Sep
  18. Surely we are not getting an English ref for the Calcutta cup match?
  19. The end love me two times hello i love you five to one not to touch the earth
  20. The SRU have always been very clear that they wont be breaking the bank to keep players. The did dig deep to keep Hogg and Grey first time round but were never going to be able to compete 2nd time round. There plan has always been to nurture the young players, then let them leave mid to late 20's so they can get their big pay day in France or England, then welcome them back at the end of their careers. You get the impression its all about the national team, and filling Murrayfield, competitive pro teams seem to be a nice to have but not essential - why else would they both be looking to play in sub 10,000 stadia if they thought they would be successfull? Scotstoun was too small for Glasgow (probably not now though) and mini Murrayfield is smaller i think - 6k? Hardly screams of ambition, both should have been looking at 15-20k stadia big enough to never fill, but wouldn't be horrendously empty looking with a small crowd
  21. Wonder if he will end up back in SA? obviously good for all parties as will still be on the same calendar as Scotland when they join Pro 16
  22. Just like to say I thought the stream was excellent - except for the replay of the corner meaning we missed the goal! For me the commentary was the right balance of banter and calling the match and not overly biased towards the home side
  23. Amazing last espisode, in no way did i think they would pull out Luke Skywalker! X wing? - x-wing is a standard ship there's loads of them. Green Lighsaber? - I wonder which of the Jedi has a green lightsaber, Hooded figure?, loads of them. One Gloved hand - Michael Jackson fan?...surely they cant go with Luke Skywalker, surely they wont...ooft it is Luke! Did anyone else then feel really sad thinking thats Grogu dead when Kylo Ren kills everyone at Luke's Jedi school?
  24. It fits with the dreadful brand of rugby that wilson wants to play
  25. I think we would be better swapping from the 4-2-3-1 and going 4-3-3 adding either MIller or Muirhead in with Chalmers and Murdoch should makes us a bit more solid, and hopefuly let McCowan / Smith / Moffat / Zanatta get closer to Anderson to give him a bit more support
