  1. Irish prop in at an angle but gets the penalty
  2. Van der walt already looking a step up from Weir
  3. Quite enjoyed that, good 2nd half, makes a difference 2 teams trying to score try's rather than trying not to concede
  4. Glasgow team for tomorrow night Glasgow Warriors: Bryce, Jones, Grigg, Fergusson, Matawalu, Horne, Kennedy; Seiuli, Stewart, Pieretto, Bean, McDonald, Harley, Lokotui, Wilson (capt). Replacements: Matthews, Allan, Rae, Bain, Ioane, Dobie, Thomson, Tagive.
  5. Although Fagerson isn't the biggest 8, he does at least get over the gain line 9 times out of 10 unlike some others. I think he would be better suited at 6, but we dont have a better option at 8 - infact seemingly Fagerson was the top carrier against France
  6. its strange Jaco is pitched straight in with no appartent cover if things go wrong. Cowan is madness, hes well into his 30's, wont be playing by the time the next world cup rolls round, I would much rather someone like Bradbury or Crosbie was in the squad as they will be called on in the years to come - its a bit different if its the 6 nations and we are down to the bare bones but it isn't and were not. There is a quote somewhere if Jones and Cowan get on its 39 players used over 5 matches this autumn which I think shows our new found strength in depth, though if they could all hurry up and get back to playing for there clubs that would be great. Also noted none of the 2 Glasgow players have not been selected for Fiji so hopefully they might make a return shortly also.
  7. There was a whole raft of rules around distancing, face masks etc that it looks like the fans in this picture have ignored. Probably the reason the authorities in Scotland have decided to be more cautious
  8. https://www.the42.ie/ben-healy-munster-glasgow-5284476-Nov2020/?amp=1&__twitter_impression=true&fbclid=IwAR1C6av71hV3MnlW0irQdtfXy7NfbH2q-jQOlYGsh1CD6cMyMxELSzauN0s Im sure someone said he was a new addition to the most hated Irish fly half's club last week!
  9. Its still there and you can still go round it in a car - I think it was a Gino D'campo cooking show in Turin where he was taken round it in a car
  10. From what I have heard the Argentine public were disgusted the Aru didn't do enough to pay respect to Maradona, seemingly just players wearing black armband. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a member of the public that have done it.
  11. For 10 or 15 minutes at the start of the second half I thought Edinburgh were actually going to turns things round, but the dissallowed try which would have had them draw level being chalked off turned the tide back to Ulster. On the plus side the 2 young lads Chamberlain and Blain both look good prospects. Leinster and Ulster do seem to be on a different level to everyone else to be fair. Its frustrating but Ulster have only lost 5 or 6 players to the Ireland squad where Glasgow are 11 to Scotland and 2 to Fiji and Edinburgh will be similar.
  12. Been out in the Amazon rain forest in Venezuela is probably the most unusual but was part of a tourist trip so not exactly out on my own in the wilds. Would love to do the whole silk road, a lot of the places in Uzbekistan, Krygistan and western China look fascinating as they are so remote
  13. I think Reading has a bit of bite about him but is still young so not a Geggan levels yet, although its more needed in the middle of the park. There has been a few shouts for moving Muirhead into the midfield, but who would you drop out of Chalmers and Murdoch? Assuming we stick with 4-2-3-1 you cant really move them anywhere else. Chalmers has looked better on the ball, but Murdoch has a bit more dig, although probably not at Adams or Docherty levels.
  14. Can we not play Welsh teams every week rather than the Irish? Was a big improvement on the last month or so of games - even if the opposition was dreadful in comparison to Leinster and Ulster. Lee Jones played well after being out for nearly 2 years - cant believe that was Jan 19 his last game and Grigg added a bit of presence to the midfield. The forwards weren't under the sort of pressure they had been in previous weeks, but did what was asked of them. I did think it was telling though how much the Welsh commentators were bigging up the Glasgow players - i had thought they were just being condesending to start with - but I generally think they know how bad they are that they know they are going to lose so getting the excuses in early - ie what a player this Tagive is - to try and fool the welsh public into thinking there regions are getting beat by a team of world beaters, not that they are dreadful
  15. On the plus side that wasn't as bad as the kickings at the hands of Leinster and Ulster! After we rallied with the try, then the penalty to take the lead I thought we maybe had turned a corner but the rest of the game was pretty dreadful. The worst of it is though (Wilson stupid dive on the player aside) apart from Matawalu their doesn't seem to be any fight, urgency or desire to win games, its like the players are just going through the motions, and most of the time they dont know what those motions are. Although kennedy is an improvement on Frisby, his kicking was pretty poor. You had Price vs France that was excellent and all the kicks were contestable, last night they were all 10 or 20 metres too long (or the chase was too slow!!) and it was easy for Munster to field and return. Last night we were missing, Fagerson, Kebble, Brown, Turner, Dolokoto, Cummings, Gray, Nakarawa, Fagersson, Flockhart, Price, Horne, Dobie, Hastings, Grigg went off injured after 10 minutes, Johnson, Jones, Kelly, McDowall, Steyn, Jones, and Tagive (who isnt really a miss though). As has been said if we were blooding youngsters it wouldn't be as bad, but if you look at the squad, only Nicol, Bain, Dobie, McDowall and Nairn could be classed as youngsters but apart from Dobie all are older than Matt Fagersson who started at 8 for Scotland and has been a regular for a few seasons. Surely there must be some players in the institute of sport what we could be playing rather than guys that are obviously either pasted it or never good enough. Either we have been extremely lucky in being blessed with 4 or 5 years of excellent players come through like Grey, Cummings, both Fagerrson's, etc at Glasgow and Grham, Ritchie, Bradbury etc at Edinburgh or the SRU has taken the eye off the ball. We really need to be doing something different to make sure we at least have some half decent squad players come through each year
  16. Didnt realise taylor was in the squad eiether apart from zander its our strongest first 15 available given the injuries
  17. Its already been onfirmed its one of the group of students
  18. I cant imagine they will be able to play the week after if they have 29 cases now, looks like us v France for top spot. Will be dissapointing for Georgia, missing out on another crack at Italy, and potentially not getting a game in the final week unless there is a big improvement in the situation.
  19. Much improved second half after a fairly poor first. We didn't match the Italian intensity first half which put us on the back foot. Bonus point win is as much as you can ask for in a game. Toonie has clearly moved from all out attack, to a bit more of a conservative game which is clearly paying dividends. I think we missed Ritchie as Haining and Thompson dont add enough to the back row
  20. games there for the taking, need to cut out the silly penalties though, players getting isolated far to often
  21. wee Duncy starting, with Lang on the bench in case it goes tits up... Scotland team Scotland: Hogg (c); Graham, Harris, Johnson, Van der Merwe; Weir, Price; Sutherland, McInally, Z Fagerson; Cummings, Gray; Ritchie, Watson, Thomson. Replacements: Turner, Kebble, Nel, Skinner, Haining, Hidalgo-Clyne, Lang, Kinghorn.
  22. Im sure the cheapest were £70 for the last home game vs Wales so that doesn't change. Cardiff was £80 for cheapest tickets this year. Games are always sold out so not as if they are pricing themselves out. Probably helps that everyone knows the fixtures and dates a year in advance so people can make a weekend out of it
  23. The first 5 or 10 minutes looked encouraging then it just fell apart, when your starting with your 4th choice scrum half and hooker and have your 5th choice on the bench its never a good sign but they at least get pass marks. Its hard to pinpoint exactly where its going wrong as at this time of year we are never usually this bad. Back 3 - Bryce is passable as cover at full back, Matowalu is what he is and thought he did OK last night, at least he is up for the fight and gets involved. Tagive, big, strong, quick, doesn't look like a rugby player though Centre's McDowall got injured early, and eventually replaced by Horne and Fergussons first game - for me centre was a big weakness all night Kennedy and Horne, both passable, Kennedy still looks unsure of patterns of play etc or where he should be passing. Thompson has gone backwards massively- he looked a real find when Toonie brought him over but is now a shadow of that player backrow - Wilson for me was the biggest dissapointment of hte night, for a captain and one of the senior players was annoymous, Gordon and Ioanne at least put in a solid if unspectacular shift Harley and McDonald, Harley looked OK, dont remember seeing much of McDonald either in attack or defence which is probably an issue Front row Seilu and Stewart were passable, dont remember anything of Pieretto *When I say passable I mean as the sort of performance in an international weekend team when we are missing all the starters - I woulkdn't have any of those players anywhere near a first choice teams. I dont know yet if this is a coaching or a player issue, but you cant really make any judgements on 2 results against the 2 best teams in the Pro14 when your missing 20 odd first choice players. To me it still looks like the players are not 100% sure what they are suppose to be doing.
  24. For me its not the time bonuses themselves but the size of them. if it was 3, 2 & 1 second for top 3 i think that would be reasonable as it helps distinguish who is pushing hardest to get the win rather than sitting on the back of a group to get the same time.
