  1. were lucky that Ireland (vs Russia) and Japan (vs Samoa) both have there third games before we play Russia, and Ireland play their last game against Samoa the day before we play Japan - I've no idea what happens if all 3 finish on 15 points - i am assuming points difference (as Ireland beat us, lost to Japan and we beat Japn?)
  2. If we finish on the same points as Japan, we go through as we would have beat them in the game
  3. we've gone from having some of the most exciting centres in world rugby, to looking to be lucky to break the line. To be fair Grigg and Jones were anonymous for Glasgow, but Scott and Bennett were class for Edinburgh, although it was against the zebre who are poor at the best of times, but were down half a team.
  4. Job done, once we started playing to the conditions there was only one winner. On too Russia and another 5 points
  5. ooft, Samoa handing the bp's too us
  6. one to go, and Samoa down to 14 for 10
  7. Maybe the had forgot to wash their green kit?
  8. Bradbury looks like what we have been missing against Ireland. Some decent runs so far
  9. How can you not tell the difference between light blue and dark blue, its not remotely close to a clash
  10. You should be targeting bonus point wins against the bottom 2 seeds before the world cup kicked off if you want to get to the quarters, don't think anything has changed with his the results have planned out so far
  11. It is indeed home of Strathclyde Police, i have played there quite a few times back in the day. Unless its changes a lot in the last few years there is no stand or terrace, although you get a decent view of the 1st team pitch from the bar which is on the first floor of the club house. Let me know if they still have black heart rum as a raffle prize, they always used to give away 4 or 5 quarter bottles as a raffle prize, we always thought they must have seized crates of the stuff in raid, but kept it for themselves!!
  12. Having thought about it the Japanese win doesn't really change much for Scotland. I think we all knew if we lost to Ireland we needed to win the 3 games, thats not really changed anything, if anything it puts more pressure on Japan as they are now the favourites (and above is in the rankings now also). Also for Sunday it may be better if we let Samoa score 4 and get a losing BP (as long as we win with the BP) so they are still in the hunt going into the game vs Japan
  13. We need 2 bonus points win against Samoa and Japan to even stand a chance of going through. Although Samoa could do us a favour it's unlikely
  14. I thought Thompson was ok, he tends to settle things down and had a decent boot on him. Frisbee, and the forwards were shocking. Although there were another 4 or 5 injuries, proper bare bones next week. Saying that as expected cheetahs looked really good, so probably not much a half strength warriors could do
  15. Cheetahs is probably about the worst fixture we could have had at this time - the other European teams are in the same boat of having lost loads of players to the world cup, which the SA's wont have, the Cheetahs are coming off the back of the Currie Cup so are already at full match fitness, whereas we have only played a couple of warm ups with 30 odd man squad. SAying that its a strong team we have out, which usually does well during Nov / 6N's
  16. To be honest I dont think any of the loan players would want to leave Ayr and a potential title challenge to go to Thistle for a relegation battle, can you imagine we won league and Kelly missed out as his loan was cut short and sent to Partick - how p!$$ed off would he be!
  17. I know there has been a few ex players mentioned, but Chris Strain!!
  18. They have been planing for hte Ireland game for 100 days and we get served up that performance. Even given the injuries, how many people would have picked that exact team? Apart from Skinner / Richie Grey in for Gilchrist, maybe strauss for Wilson or Price for Laidlaw the majority of the team that got scudded by Ireland is what everyone would have picked given the chance. All the chat after the game is the training has been brilliant, its the best prepared they have ever been etc etc. Yet the performance for the most part was woefully short of where it needs to be. I did think we looked better when Price came on, as at least he holds the inside defence and was bringing runners onto the ball. We are lucky with the fixtures in that we have a week until Samoa, then can pick the team for the Japan game and play the 2nd string vs Russia on hte Wed so they 1st team is rested for the Sunday.
  19. Whats Gary teale up to these days? Not heard anything since his spell at St Mirren.
  20. So, when's the pro14 kicking off then.... That was thoroughly disappointing, we started really well good kicks in behind, then first attacking line out we over complicate things (FFS some players had even touched the ball yet) make a mess of the move, we end up back in our own 22 and Ireland score. All the tries were our mistakes, Ireland didn't really look a threat with the ball, we just gave them the opportunity to score time and again. Luckily we have Samoa (by a distance the 3rd best of the islanders, and a shadow of the side of the late nineties) and Russia before we play Japan. I'm hoping for wholesale changes, hopefully guys like fagerson Cummings, Bradbury Ritchie price will inject some pace and go forward ball.
  21. Looks like same line up as last week Ayr 1Doohan 6Geggan 2Muirhead 5Roscoe-Byrne 3Harvie 11McCowan 30Kelly 4Kerr 23Docherty 10Forrest 7Moffat Substitutes 8Doolan 14Houston 19Hare-Reid 22McKenzie
  22. I think I would prefer SA, so win against Ireland is vital, but not by much. Psychologically we have beaten them a few times in the recent past, whereas we have never beaten NZ, and I just think our style of play is suited to playing against SA as at times the are susceptible to a quick style of rugby
  23. Fiji ran out of steam big time in the 2nd half - brilliant first half performance, hopefully they can get a bit more balance and get teh win against Wales. Argentina unlucky, but both sides completely different in each half France looked good first half, and Argentina were pretty poor, but completely turned out round in the 2nd half and looked like they would get the win until the drop goal, and then France looked like they were doing there best to lose it at the end. 2 enjoyable games before the main event of NZ v SA
