  1. I think the issue for most Ayr fans this time last year you would have taken 8th (and probably finishing 9th above Alloa was the expectation) as we were the promoted team, and you were looking at fixtures against DU, Ross county, ICT, Falkirk and Thistle would have all been in the top tier recently, so we were looking at picking up points against QoS, Morton and Dunfermline who probably have a slightly better championship pedigree over the last few years. Fast forward to this year, and we now know we are at least on a par with the majority of teams, we've kept together a decent core of players, and although another crack at the title doesn't look likely we should be safely mid table, with hopefully another play off spot (at the top end...) Im more concerned about the season after when we could lose Moff, Kerr, Geggan, Adams and Bell due to their age and have a much bigger rebuilding job for McCall.
  2. I thought when they said they had taken the results of the poll (ie either just announce the signing, or imminent means less than 5 mins) they would just have got on with it! Thats 15 mins now.
  3. 2-2 at half time with McGuffie getting the 2nd and Half time subs as Hewitt and Thorburn replace Ecrepont and Geggan
  4. I thought he was only 28 (31 caps?)?
  5. Is it Kotor Bay and some Macedonian club?
  6. I dont know it its just me, but we seem to have done really badly out the latest restructuring. The teams as the top get more, the ones at the bottom stay the same, but the ones in the middle are losing out to give those at the top more
  7. I thought he was still contracted to Newcastle, unless he had some sort of relegation release clause, as im sure he originally went on loan, which then became permanent. Wonder if it's more to be seen to be playing at a high level rather than second tier?
  8. It has been really quite this summer on that front from Glasgow. Agree we could do with a bit more in the back row, and another full back as we only have Jackson at the moment - we've got plenty of options on the wing as it is Seymour, DTH, Jones, Hughes, Matawalu, Steyn plus a few others
  9. Fijian hooker signs for Glasgow, is that our 4th or 5th? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/48770629
  10. I agree with you that the attendance should be just those acutally in "attendance" at the game, but some clubs do use tickets sold instead
  11. Do they not report tickets sold / given out rather than actually used? ie if you've sold 1000 season tickets, the attendance cant be any less than 1000..
  12. ......or world rugby will bend over and change from 12 team to 16 team tournament i wouldn't be suprised, the year that us and Ireland's U19 got relegated from the European Championship the home nations up and left and dont play in the Euro's anymore
  13. you would have thought Glasgow may have taken a punt on him for a season given they will be losing price and horne for RWC and 6 Nations so will be relying on Frisbee and Matawalu.
  14. I though LC explained it pretty well Last years budget was added to during the year with Smith & Muirhead, plus the difference in Higgins & McGuffie vs Cadden & Miller Increase in crowds wasn't as much as expected / impacted by the Friday night games Increase in prize money from the league partly went on increase in player bonus for finishing 4th. Although some players were resigned on reduced terms, other will be on more that last season. Getting out the group stage of the league cup will mean we are adding to the player budget. Off the pitch costs are probably more that some people realise.
  15. We've avoided Sarries which is the main thing - Exeter are tough - more so now they have Hoggy, but are beatable, Sale are probably mostly unknown with the number of signings but will be good, and La Rochelle will depend on where they can still qualify when we play them like most French teams. Its the top 6 or 7 teams from each league so not many easy games - we should be able to qualify from that group, but will need to work for it.
  16. Calvisano qualified via the third tier tournament, which consists of 4 italian clubs, and 1 each from Georgia, Romania, Belgium and Germany. There are only 2 spots for clubs outside the big 3 leagues. Previously the 2 teams who were already in played off against 2 top teams from the 3rd tier tournament so both teams had a chance to re-qualify but was changed so 2 current teams play off and the 2 qualifying teams play off. It does make sure there is a new team each year, but not alllways the best 2 teams The Italians are actually doing all the organising (hence there 4 teams), but I dont see there being any reason why Scottish clubs dont enter (or welsh or Irish) other than the prize money is minimal - i had thought it would be ideal for the new pro clubs. The spanish clubs have been making noises about joining again, but I dont think it fits in well with their fixture list, and i think most of the clubs are losing money by playing in it.
  17. Last season we only had the money to sign smith due to getting through the league cup groups / only signed him after the groups.
  18. There was quite a detailed interview with McCall last week, just after the signing of Roscoe, and Cameron is doing a Q&A on facebook today. There's been an update in the AP this week. Do we really want to get to the stage of the club tweeting every single detail of what is happening?
  19. Glasgow Leinster and Ulster top 3 ospreys and cheetahs battling it out for 4th
  20. I thought we would have had a #imminent today as well Maybe saving them up for one big Friyay
