  1. Do kids receive a ticket or do they just rock up on the day? Order arrived today but there were no kids’ tickets included.
  2. This idea that folk like Morgan and Sinton have stumped up massive sums to save the club is nonsense. Sim is the financial clout and the rest are just his ‘yes’ men. Very different to when you had Mario Caira, Turnbull Hutton and Val’s input on the board.
  3. I remember the Dumbarton v Inverness final a few years ago was in the 4pm slot on the Saturday. Absolute pish that this one’s late on the Sunday.
  4. I have no sympathy for Goodwillie, Clyde and Rovers in this situation and I fully accept people’s right or ability to change their minds on an issue. But to the casual observer who will just see the headlines regarding NLC and the Clyde ladies team, it does seem a case of jumping on the outrage bandwagon years too late.
  5. Another whose first game came in the Frank Connor era. Amazing eye for a player or lost soul to spark their career back into life. Remember his spell as Hetherston’s No2 where he’d still go off his nut at opponents and refs while waving his walking stick. Sad news.
  6. That’s a good point. Maybe something like Women’s Aid then. There has to be some significant steps taken - but there will always be a sense that it’s just a PR stunt. Frankly, Sim and Co should be made to listen to accounts from rape victims to give them even a hint of what they’ve endorsed. My suggestion in terms of an apology to Denise Clair is borne out of the fact she was in the papers directly talking about this whole sorry mess Rovers have created. A line that acknowledges how damaging and distressing this last 7 days must have been to her (even if it doesn’t name her) can’t be too much to ask. Can it?
  7. A lot of talk in this about Goodwillie’s lack of remorse - the same thing is going to get levelled at the board unless urgent remedial action is taken. For me, they MUST: Foot the bill for this so the Celtic cup windfall(s) can go towards the playing budget and reducing debts. Issue a public apology directly naming Denise Clair. Offer free shirt and away stand sponsorship to Rape Crisis Scotland. Of course, other action is needed but this has to be a starting point to show that they acknowledge what they’ve done.
  8. Right, McGlynn and Smith next please. Then the Board can form an orderly queue.
  9. We’ve got McGlynn, f***ing John McGlynn, I just don’t think he understands.
  10. Taking a step back from the initial shock and outrage, you wonder where it stops in terms of players quitting? The club have, rightly, been praised for spending cash on guys like Ethan Ross, Jamie Gullan etc who could be saleable assets down the line. But what if they, or others, turn round and say “Fck this, I don’t want associated with him”? McGlynn’s teams have always been about spirit and unity. Why risk that for a (very) outside shot at promotion? Every way you look at this just beggars belief.
  11. I’ve started taking my daughter and son to matches in the last two years. I can’t be taking them now and I’ll not be going either. All the feelgood stuff from the previous few seasons wiped out in one moment. Shameful day for the club.
  12. Not much to add in terms of the quality of the match. What I found most frustrating was the reluctance/inability of Tumilty and especially Dick to hit the bye-line. Every cross was being swung in from 25-30 yards out and was easy to mop up for the Pars defence. Dick had numerous chances to keep driving into the space and get to the line but didn’t. Total lack of variation.
  13. Awaiting Tx’s analysis of the ramifications of Stanton signing on Dave Mackay’s future prospects as a false 9.
  14. Vividly remember Arbroath coming to Stark’s in their title winning year and their sole tactic was to maim Lewis Vaughan. Glass houses, welcome the stones and people.
  15. I remember Rovers fans grumbling about not being able to get a ticket in the days before the 2010-11 title ‘decider’ at East End - after 3,000 tickets had been on sale for weeks. No point in moaning about current situation. Just be thankful that fans are getting back into matches at all.
  16. What was the actual crowd at Parkhead? Haven’t seen it reported anywhere.
  17. Five days to issue a statement he was forced into making… and still Sim managed to cock it up first time. McGlynn obviously not happy with the buck passing effort in the original.
  18. Silence is deafening from Sim and Macartney on this. If your business was being slaughtered right, left and centre from its customer base then you’d want to nip it in the bud pretty quickly. What’s their corporate buzzword acronym for AWOL?
  19. If the £100k rumours are true or in the ballpark (which I’d be inclined to believe given local papers will all have well-placed sources at their clubs) then the board deserve all the pelters they are getting. They could spin it as a decent deal if we were dossing around in League One but not now. All the ‘ambition’ chat really coming back to bite them. Gutted for Lewis too. It’s doubly cruel that days after doing his ACL again he watches Tait get the move he’s probably been dreaming about since he was a wee boy.
  20. Think it’s fairly simple. If the club has ballsed up in any way - too many plugs in one socket, trying to operate a football stadium using dial-up internet - then we should rightly be hammered. Financially, not a forfeited match. But if it all stemmed from something outwith our control such as an external power surge/outage then we move on as it’s one of those things. There’s clearly plenty of lessons to learn though. Looked like we’d forgotten how to stage a big match after 18 months.
  21. On a totally separate note, anyone know when season tickets are being sent out? Two games into the league campaign, plus four League Cup ties, and still to arrive. Pretty poor effort.
  22. Would have been an absolutely cracking draw pre-Covid times. Guaranteed away crowd sellout on a weekend and a chance of an upset. Wait and see what Sturgeon’s ‘Freedom Day’ easing allows in terms of crowds.
