  1. Anyone come across any ticket offers for the Scottish national? I'm sure I saved about £8 on a club ticket last year but I haven't come across any similar savings this year
  2. Bit scrappy in the opening stages here... That was a terrible sack Foles took, cost us 3 points
  3. I see the Eagles have been made a 2.5 point favourite over the Saints for Saturday. Slightly surprised by this even though I do have a feeling that the Birds can pull off a win and continue their unexpected impressive season. Will be interesting to see how Foles copes under the pressure as he's been almost flawless since he got the job.
  4. It's a job... You need to look after number one. Spending that money elsewhere might help, it might not. Either way, it's better in your pocket than somebody else's.
  5. I play in a winter league, not particularly well mind you. Still, gets me out of bed on a Saturday and Sunday morning...
  6. The official measurement was 8 inches of snow during the Eagles game!
  7. Don't expect anything from Barkley. A strange pick indeed
  8. Finally downloaded Tinder to see what it's all about. First impressions = impressive. Managed 23 matches in my first day including a few pretty good lookin ones I've seen out and about round here and was surprised to find on there. That said, there's 4 or 5 of my matches who must have looked better at first look... Enjoyed a bit of banter with a couple of folk tonight and had to block another for being either a proper weirdo or a fake profile. Impressed nonetheless.
  9. In a surprising turn of events, I now strongly fancy the Eagles to go on and win the East, no matter who starts at QB.
  10. Good shooting mate! What do you mean about handicaps not being frozen, your medals run right through the winter?? Finished the season at 7.8 myself. A pretty disappointing season on the stroke play side but winning both the match play competitions I entered was pleasing. Started season at 9.1 so I've come down 1.3 overall - scored relatively consistently aside from the month of June which saw my handicap rise 0.6. Handicap target for the year was 6.5 so I have failed miserably overall. Roll on the winter league.
  11. Well my golf has been reasonably good since my last post. Managed to win the Handicap Championship (match play) a couple weeks back and got the handicap down to 7.7 on saturday having gone up 0.2 in the 2 medals prior. My 75 on Saturday should have been far better but I struggled with the putter - three 3-putts and left 3 birdie putts in the jaws. Thankfully I hit most of the greens so was still able to come in with a score. Not sure if we've many (if any) stroke play competitions left so it may be texas scrambles and practice for the winter league over the next few weeks.
  12. Surprisingly my golf has been good since returning from America. Last year I had the same 3 weeks away and was absolutely dreadful when I got home so have been pleasantly surprised to be playing well on my return this year. Played medal last Wed and scraped buffer which I'll take given I had 3 doubles in the first 6 holes. Had a Matchplay semi final (handicap comp, biggest competition after the Club Championship) on Friday and played pretty well to win at the 17th so that's a major final to look forward to. Followed that up with a 75 on Saturday for a 0.4 cut down to 7.9 and won the final of the local social club championship last night (having been beaten in the final the last 3 years). Overall, a pretty good week!
  13. Was at the Eagles v Patriots game. Eagles defence looked pretty poor throughout though we were able to move the ball reasonably well on offence. Brady gave the guys a bit of a lesson for as long as he played. Also managed to get myself on the 6pm live ABC news and was interviewed again for the 11pm news... What a day haha
  14. Sometimes you need to take a step back to go forward DD, sure it won't be long til you're back down again, Had 3 rounds of golf since I arrived in Philadelphia a couple of weeks back. Two at one of the public courses and one at a country club that costs $65,000 a year! Really wish I had took my own sticks, it's a whole new game using unfamiliar clubs. Didn't manage to break 80 on any of the three rounds though I was out in 38 yesterday which was at least partially pleasing.
  15. Met Jeff Carter down the Jersey Shore on Saturday night... I don't follow hockey all that much but was good to chat with one of the leagues better players.
  16. Playing Paxon Hollow Country Club today. Last time I played here I had a decent set of sticks and shot an easy 77. Judging by the clubs I've been lent this time around, and the way I was hitting at the range last night I reckon I could be looking at my first 85+ round of the year
  17. Had the second round of the championship qualifying on Saturday and - having made the last 16 last year - sadly missed out. Started with a birdie and parred the four long par 4s but 4 double bogeys, including one at the last, saw me shoot a 79 and miss out by 3 shots overall. Looks like taking 4 to get out that bunker last week was rather costly!
  18. Sounds a bit like my round in the championship qualifying on Sat. Was rolling along great then took 4 to get out the bunker on the short par 3 16th, dropping 6 shots over the last 4 holes for a 77. However, Saturday (plus the stableford adjustment for the 16th) got me down to 8.4 and I knocked another 0.2 off with a 76 last night, even though I failed to hole a putt all night and dropped 5 shots over the middle 4 holes. If only I could concentrate for a whole round...
  19. Swing by swing app on the iPhone is pretty good. And it's free.
  20. No luck chuck! I went up to 8.8 on Sat... Turned up an absolute state from Friday night and started 5, 6, 3, 8. Was 10 over at the turn but had a decent back 9 and actually had a 10 foot putt at the last (missed...) for buffer. My play wouldn't have deserved anything other than a 0.1 so not too disappointed. Hoping for better on Wed
  21. Another decent round in the Wed medal yesterday, ending up with a 77-9=68 though finishing bogey, bogey was disappointing. Still, brings my exact down to 8.7 having been 9.5 this time last week. In other news, if anyone has the new edition of bunkered there's a photo of me with Miguel Angel Jiminez on page 12!
  22. I think that might be it. Forza, presumably you played off the yellows and, assuming you played two rounds of the 9 hole for each card, you would have had far easier tee shots at 3, 4 & 9. Given the scratch is either 62 or 63 for a 64 par on the wee course from the whites, I'd expect they'd consider it a 60 from the yellows. Still good shooting, and if you put a couple of good scores in you'll qualify for an ESR which will take you down even quicker.
  23. It depends on what the club decides. I think my club uses the total handicaps divided by 8 but I know in the past we've used a weird formula which I think seemed to favour the lower handicapped teams.
