Couple of decent offers at Greenock Golf Club that may be of interest to anyone in the Inverclyde area looking to start or get back into golf -

I'm still using the irons I had as a junior (13 years ago) so the PW is from the set - Mizuno MX-15. 54 and 58 are Titleist Vokey and the 60 is Taylormade Rocketbladez.

I personally carry a PW (47 deg), a 54 and a 60. I also have a 58 which generally doesn't leave the locker. This range seems to work fairly well for me. The 54 is suitable for the majority of pitch shots with the 60 reserved for bunkers and where I need to stop it quickly.

Two things. Guys like Jai Quitongo don't attract a fee of £100k plus Doncaster haven't paid a fee for a player since August 2013.

Original bid will have been around £20k. This talk of £100k rejected is mental.

Played my first medal of the season yesterday having not played a whole lot of golf at all this year. Started with a double but was only 3 over at the turn. Dropped one at 13 before duffing into jungle off the 14th tee and taking an 8. Went bogey, bogey, double after that with a par at the last saving buffer by way of stableford adjustment. Was expecting nothing other than a +0.1 before I teed off so pleased that the game isn't as bad as first thought.

Surely there was something more than that? I find it hard to believe that the support would turn against a club legend for criticising a team selection?!

Would only make sense for it to be Jessica if she wanted to sell out Harvey as that's clearly the intention of the prosecutor. Quite a few people know now... An outside bet may be the girl who hacked the Harvard/bar database for him. A lot of these hackers go legit and start working for the government and such like in security - possible storyline there? Unlikely. But just a thought.

Big night tonight! Early alarm set for the morning, hoping to catch this before work

Played my fifth winter league round (9 hole stableford) on Saturday. Having managed a single point between the first two holes I parred the next 4 and stuck it to 20 feet into the wind at the 7th. As I was getting a shot at the hole, I knew that even a 3 putt would guarantee 2 points - not to be sniffed at for a difficult hole in testing conditions. 5 putts later I'm wondering why I bothered getting out of bed Got to love winter golf.

Ok club experts... The time has come for me to invest in a new set of irons. My mizuno mx-15s have served me well since purchasing in 2002 (I pre-ordered so perhaps they arrived 2003) but it's probably time to take advantage of modern technology. Noticed that American Golf have a decent sale on just now, Callaway X-Series (5-sw) for £299 and Taylor Made Speedblade (4-pw) for £279. At the other end of the scale, the Mizuno JPX850 (4-pw) are here for £499 and seem to have excellent reviews. Only thing being, I note these are all termed "game improvement" clubs. Having very little knowledge of the technology itself, I'd welcome advice as to what to go for. Best to stick to game improvement or otherwise? Currently playing off 7 and a pretty solid iron player generally. Intend to go up the range to try a few out but any suggestions in the meantime welcome.

If you're striking the driver 280 and playing to a 15 handicap you'd probably be better off investing in some short game lessons!
