  1. It was said tongue in cheek, of course. That's a bit pie in the sky then isn't it? We won't get very far if we base our future as a stable club on "maybe".
  2. Let's be honest, Dumbarton is a shithole and no-one wants to live there. The vast majority of residents don't work in the town itself and the vast majority of football fans in the town support clubs other than DFC. This development isn't going to bring much in the way of jobs or revenue because there aren't that many people who'll use it. There are already restaurants, bars, gyms, football pitches, sports complexes and offices in and around the town, putting more in will not generate income. Look at the Artizan centre in the town centre, simply building the facility does not guarantee that businesses and customers will use it, especially in an economically depressed town which already has all of the facilities being suggested.
  3. Bigger ground won't mean bigger support, but bigger ground does mean bigger running costs. Feckless decision making.
  4. This is the crux of the issue. We won't be in this league forever, nor will the unusually big teams who have popped down for a spell by the seaside. We will never be an established top flight team as there is not the support there to base that upon, same with turning full-time, so there are no justifiable reasons for this move. Someone further up on the thread said they'd be happy enough with this if it resulted in us getting a better stadium. What possible complaint could you have about our current home? Spacious, easily accessible, great view, ample commercial and hospitality facilities, club offices and shop within. There really could not be a "better" stadium for us.
  5. I'm really glad the club are actively trying to look for alternatives to the appalling situation we find ourselves in whereby our ground is totally unsuitable for the league we find ourselves in, leading to ticket issues and road closures. Thank goodness we have such a responsible board in charge to take care of these problems for us.
  6. Fucking madness. Killie's grand plan to build a hotel to prop up the business streams of the football club worked out really well...
  7. Yes, but everyone expects you to be the type who has a cleaner, because you live in the country and play golf with your bourgeouis chums. Class traitor.
  8. More times than I care to count, but none were related to hiring the cleaner. I'd estimate that we've been using her on and off for about 6 years.
  9. Aye a cleaner is really only there to do the standard stuff you don't have time to get to, not to tidy up your mess and clean filth. People with manky houses are scumbags. If your house is so manky that you're embarassed to show people then you probably need to reassess your life.
  10. It's not a recent thing, we've had one on and off for years now. Used to get her to come in once a week, nowadays we get her to come in just now and again to do a big thorough job of all the stuff we never get round to like cleaning the sofas or moving the appliances and furniture to clean behind them, or the skirtings etc. Basically I'm a lazy b*****d, so no change there.
  11. Spent the weekend in Manchester for a big family reunion / party and came home to the house spotless as we had the cleaner go in and do a spring clean while we were away.
  12. Club site also says that no ticket sales or voucher exchanges for season ticket holders will be possible after the 10am to 12pm window on Saturday ends. That's ludicrous. Nice one, DFC, way to screw over your own fans and actually reduce the crowd for a game that could have potentially one of the better attended this season. Ridiculous.
  13. Our U20s league home fixtures will be played at Murray Park this season, yes. Weirder still when you think that Rangers and Celtic were to play their U20s games at our ground last season.
  14. Agreed. Either smoke or don't smoke, don't walk around with a big plastic dildo doing something in between both.
  15. My favourite bit was where you say there was a comparison between the two, when there plainly wasn't. Zoff et al were mentioned purely as goalkeepers who played into their 40s, there was no comparison between them and Grindlay at any time. a Sons fan said "Grindlay could play into his 40s like lots of 'keepers do", you said "name these 'keepers then" and we did, but we didn't draw comparisons. Tut tut tut. You're slipping, youngster.
  16. Another version of this that seems to be the domain of the English is "bias" instead of "biased" IE "the cakes I made are great, but I'm bias" and "draws" instead of "drawers" IE "I put your socks in the draws". Idiotic and infuriating.
  17. There is some merit in this post. Prunty was a very popular player and a proven goalscorer, but he was jettisoned and allowed to cancel his new contract in order that we could replace him with a younger player who made an impact for us last season. If the option was available to cancel the contracts of guys like you mention and use the funds to improve the squad with their replacement, then I wouldn't onject. Though, let's not forget that Taggart is apparently a decent centre midfielder when called upon, though we have signed him as a right back / centre half, so we do have options if we pick up injuries, which is better than the position we found ourselves in last season with a very thin squad. We also have McCallum, McKerracher and Coleman (once he returns from his loan) to shore up the first team if we need to. Whichever way you look at it, we definitely have more numbers than last season and more quality than we have had in the past.
