  1. Johnnies have just announced they've signed Chris "surely he can't miss from there" Iwelumo until the end of the season. Positive news for us in our hopes of keeping young Kane.
  2. We will not be promoted this season. However, for the sake of filling a boring Wednesday mid-morning:- Yes, ticket prices would go up. I'd imagine the club would explore converting to full-time status, as no team has been part-time in the top flight since the 80s. Yes, the squad would be reassembled, with the best kept on and the others replaced by better quality. Basically the same thing that we do every summer. I think I'm right in saying that when the new SPFL reforms happened in summer 2013 they scrapped the need to have a minimum stadium size, so we would be fine to play at our own existing ground, though perhaps the club would explore extending it using temporary stands to increase revenue from the increased crowds that promotion would bring. Anyone who doesn't want to get promoted is mental. That's the very essence of footballing support. I believed that after we won the playoffs 2 seasons ago that we would come up to this division and get thumped every week, but I was still delighted to be promoted. The ups and downs are all part of the fun.
  3. True enough, actually. Every time we have played each other lately I've not been there or you've not been there. Pair of shitebags.
  4. I must have missed this post 13 months ago. Quality. Cowdenbeath.
  5. That rogue apostrophe really changes the meaning of that...
  6. Presumably this young loanee will take a spot on the bench and McLaughlin & Graham will continue to be the starting central defensive pairing, though we might see him get a start once McGinn's one match ban takes effect.
  7. Ah, cool. I thought we had signed someone new then.
  8. Sensible move. No point keeping him on if he wasn't going to play. For one reason or another, sometimes players just don't work out at a particular club. No hard feelings.
  9. Though I'd rather he was playing at a higher level than the Juniors, it would be nice if he were playing competitive football somewhere.
  10. Good stuff. A full season of competitive games in the rough and tumble of the Juniors is ideal for a 17 year old centre half.
  11. Saw him playing Irish football last season on RTE's website (they stream games live on a Friday night). Game was horrendous and the ball was never on the deck for the full 90 minutes, but Sives was clearly very competent at dealing with the high ball stuff they were playing.
  12. Any chance of spilling the beans...? (I can keep a secret)
  13. Craig Reid would be a good signing. Can play anywhere across the back line and has plenty of experience at this level. The fact that he was shite at Morton shouldn't count against him; everyone is shite at Morton.
  14. Anyone know who the defender was that we had on trial recently for our bounce game against 'Well?
  15. Not particularly petty, but my stepfather is currently seriously ill in hospital and getting worse by the day. The hospital staff have been pretty useless (contrary to most of my previous experience of hospital staff) and his condition is deteriorating due to the combination of treatments they are giving him. He was supposed to be in for "1 to 2 days" starting on Hogmanay and they are now revising this every day or two, last night telling him he will be in at least 5 to 6 weeks further than the 3 weeks he's been in already. They also don't seem to be able to notice that his liver and kidneys aren't functioning, despite the fact that we as visitors could see it from a mile away, but it took the hospital staff until yesterday to revise their "your renal system is fine" statements to "your liver and kidneys aren't working at proper capacity". Since he's gone in he has become bedridden, racked with pain and covered in infection, but he was only supposed to go in for antibiotics and water retention treatment. I generally have a very high opinion of NHS frontline staff through my own experiences of hospital stays etc, but this lot are really grinding my gears with their apparent incompetence. There don't seem to be any doctors in his ward, one junior doctor pops in every day or so very briefly, but the ward is essentially staffed solely by nurses and auxiliaries. We have demanded a meeting with the doctor who is (nominally) in charge of his treatment in order to find out what is going on.
  16. Robbie, 9 year old West Highland White Terrier: Ollie, 3 year old Shih Tzu: Both together:
  17. McNiff has re-signed for Annan. Best of luck to him.
  18. McLaughlin and Kane in and Murray kept on for the rest of the season, plus Kirkpatrick tied down and McNiff's wage freed up; have to say Murray is doing things right this month, and not wasting time either. I'd expect Owen Ronald and possibly Nicky Phinn to follow McNiff and free up another couple of wages for mid-season reinforcements. I can see McKerracher and Coleman being loaned out for experience also.
