  1. A goals to games ratio of circa 1 in 6 isn't good enough for a striker, certainly not one who is clearly one of the most talented with a ball in the squad. You could argue he was in and out of the team or argue about service, but he generally never looked like shooting or therefore scoring for the most part.

You would drop Orsi but start Healy and Kelly? He hasn't been in great form, but for me the latter guys look like boys playing against men. I'd like to think they can contribute, but I have so many concerns. It also says a lot about the state of our squad and the players we have that you have Blair at LB.

I'd be inclined to make it a back 3/5 with wingbacks. I thought Lennon looked more comfortable (less uncomfortable??) when he was pushed out wide at the weekend. But that also left us with Carlo at RCB, when you'd rather he was further forward. That would also leaves us questions over putting Lynas back in at RCB or putting him at RWB, Carlo to LWB and putting Lennon into his, apparently, natural position at CB.

I just want him to shake it up a bit more and have a go. We are limping and look very badly wounded at the moment. If we don't make some changes, we will continue to falter. But, the state of our squad, the imbalance throughout and the fact we have basically no players in good form makes it a difficult one.

All that being said, I expect little to no changes for this match...

Orsi frustrates me. He could do better, but usually doesn't. Healy and Kelly have only just joined so deserve a run of games to try and make an impact. Blair has played less terribly in his two LB appearances than his generally underwhelming midfield performances.

  3. I drove past Glenhead Park, home of Drumchapel Amateurs and former home of Clydebank, this morning. The pitch is like a bowling green. It just rubs salt in the wound that an amateur stadium has a perfect pitch and a 'professional' team play on a pitch worse than the ones at Argyll Park.

  4. Right, here's what I hope we'll see on Saturday:

    Hogarth

    Lynas, Newbury, Crighton, Blair

    Carlo, Gray, Malcolm

    Healy

    Kelly, Ruth

With Healy playing a free role to drop into the hole, drift wide and join up with the frontline making it an asymmetrical 442-cum-433.

Alas, the lineup will be whatever Stevie's tombola provides and the formation will be the same as ever.

It IS time to draw a line and move on but not before I say this.  The Trust is a supporters representative body and as such we have a duty to respond to any behaviour, verbal or otherwise, which may be offensive to anyone, be that players, club or match officials or fellow supporters.

No-one wants to be having to take people aside or banning people but it's a two-way bargain.  The statement was by way of a reminder to everyone that there does exist a line as to what is and what isn't acceptable, and we don't apologise for that.

Tough talk. Maybe you and @Bring Back Paddy Flannery should have a straightener? My money's on the auld yin. Kick to kill. No weapons.

I'd say if they were personal and/or family related then it doesn't really matter what was said tbh.

Hammer him for his tactics, team selection, touchline dress sense, hairstyle or whatever else. But making it personal to him as a man and his loved ones crosses a line.

Hairstyle and dress sense are personal FYI.

Bet I know who it was. If I get it just say yes or no to this clue: Joe 90.

Jim Duffy had a comparable win rate (around 37+ %) with Farrell, in a League above & also bearing in mind Farrell has been manager roughly twice as long as Duffy's tenure.

    Lol

    MACKAY OUT

    FARRELL OUT

Also Duffy's team was staffed by about 8 central midfielders playing all over the park without tactics or formation, was loaded with absolute haddies like Jones, Wilson and Ramsbottom and played some utterly eye bleeding "football". He barely kept us up in the league above in addition to the foregoing and STILL has a comparable win record to Farrell who's consistently recruited well and is playing a league lower in the pyramid. That is damning both of Farrell's managerial ability and also of the quality of L2 that we've been top 4 with those stats.

These are for after the turn of the year, but I had them worked out a few weeks ago:

    2021/22 - 4/20 games (20%)

    2022/23 - 6/20 games (30%)

    2023/24 (as things stand) - 1/8 (12.5%).

Faz has been in charge of 122 games, winning 44. Only 11 of those wins have been post-new year. So 75% of his wins arrive in the first-half of the season, which is absolutely wild when you look at it written down.

That is wild. Absolutely no arguing with those records. Consistently falls to pieces at Christmas, resulting in relegation, dropping a title and being embarrassed in the playoffs, and this season of nothingness. The pattern is undeniable.

It was an utterly weird thing to watch last season. Before Xmas I thought we might be able  to make a title race but as the season went on it swung our way far quicker than I'd thought possible.

The heart and desire seemed to go out of your team and the approach seemed very passive.

It reminded me of some of our previous teams who'd flatter to deceive for short periods before reverting to type and disappointing again.

If i was a supporter I'd want Farrell out.

It must be torture watching the same pattern being repeated

    It is

  10. I couldn't tell what formation we were playing at times yesterday. We seemed to change shape several times in the second half for short periods of time. On the new signings, Hogarth can't kick for toffee. He was shanking the ball out of play regularly. Marc McCallum is a perfect paradox of that, wonderful kick outs. Kelly took his goal really well but flitted in and out of the game. Hopefully we'll see him more as the season goes on as I think he offered more than Ryan Wallace. Healy looks a handy player and I like the look of him. Lennon isn't good enough for me. Looks a weak link. Newbury will make a career for himself in football. He's skinny as a whip and quite slight of build, but Russell McLean couldn't get past him. He always seemed to get a foot or head where it needed to be. I said yesterday I wonder if full back or deep midfield may be where he finds his niche in time. A classy player and a good signing.

I thought Wilson and Malcolm had decent games yesterday. As did Ruth, who finally got a goal. His movement and effort are good, but he'll need to up his numbers more often. Tony Wallace should be undroppable for me. Finlay Gray has a great engine, but someone needs to teach him how to pass a ball, that being the primary task of a central midfielder.

f**k sake boys, I’m depressed after reading this thread this morning. Get a few beers down you and enjoy your Saturday afternoon win, lose or draw. Vent your frustrations on here when we inevetibly make an arse of it and don’t let it ruin your weekend. Remember it’s just 22 daft guys kicking a wee white sphere around a narrow tottie field.

That's what I've been trying to say for months. You've just said it better.

On the game, today's team seems like it was picked by tombola, but we're winning at half time so fingers crossed.

    Folks,

I'll be in Bar72 from around 2pm onwards tomorrow and after the game for 30mins or so if anyone wants to catch up or chat through anything.

Been catching up with the wider Trust this week and hopefully the board/Owners officially in the coming weeks. Most of my knowledge is "fan based" vs "Director" but would be good to hear good/bad etc points from people.

I trust that in gratitude for all of our votes, you'll be putting a few quid behind the bar.

  13. Keeping a core squad together in advance is a policy I'm happy with in general terms. The old days of everyone on a season long contract and 20 new players each summer always struck me as amateurish. So I can see the sense in aiming for continuity rather than yearly rebuilding, but that only makes sense on paper. In reality, until a manager who can get the team prepared for pressure games is appointed it won't be effective. We saw in the first half of last season the kind of form that champions need; grinding out wins consistently even on days when the team were having an off day, the weather or pitch was poor and the opposition were stuffy. But the absurd collapse in form from December onwards last term, and the similarly insipid performances and form this season show that the management of the team has run it's course. All managers have a shelf life at clubs, and when it's not happening for them anymore it's very obvious and impossible to ignore.

On individual players, I'd personally not be keen to keep David Wilson, Callum Wilson or any of the guys who are out on loan. Farrell generally has a good track record in recruitment and there are some handy players at the club who I'm otherwise happy to see continue here, but I think a change in leadership will be needed to get a tune out of them.

Thank you. I might be quiet for a week or so while reading up on everything and speaking to all sides but the end goal has to be what's right for the club.

While it would have been nice to see the turn out higher, I think the quick turn around and the minimal voting options would be the main driver. In the future we will work to have more options and that should drive up the turn out.

I look forward to our new stands.

All the best and good luck.
