Peter Drury has become insufferable since being promoted to Sky's lead commentator. Nearly every word sounds like it's read from a script and he seems to think his job is to create some sort of poetry to accompany a game. Awful.

I honestly can't listen to him. It's like he's trying to make every sentence a soundbite.

  2. City and probably Chelsea will lawyer / bribe their way out of whatever comes their way.

As bad as they are, Everton will stay up comfortably. Any other season and this would likely see them gone already but the 3 promoted club's are so unbelievably shit that everyone else is basically getting a free hit this season.

    That’s how I feel tbh.

I’m not one for sacking the manager at the moment however finding it harder and harder to defend him. That today was all on him, his tactics completely and utterly wrong and the fact he changed it at half time he will know. However leaving it until the 77 mins to bring on a left back is criminal.

There is no balance to the team. The midfield players are too similar, the strikers not good enough apart from Mika but seemingly he is the target man.

The defence however are an absolute shambles. So soft and since his return Butcher has been abysmal. No coincidence we are conceding more with him in the side. He looks slow, weak and like an old man.

Butcher's return reminds me of Peter Hartley a few years ago. Went from being the key man in defence, getting injured and then looking like a liability after coming back.

At least then we had Tom Aldred. None of our current defenders look capable of stepping up.

  4. I was all for binning Hammell and Alexander in similar circumstances but, for some of these players, they're now on a 3rd manager where they've seemingly just downed tools / form has gone off a cliff for no apparent reason.

My opinion is that the club is as poorly run as it has been in a long while. Sure we're not burning money like we have in the past but the flip side is we're getting no value for what little amount we are spending. Recruitment has been largely rotten since the Robinson days and, even then, it was fairly hit and miss. Of our 9 signings in the summer only Biereth looks like he can offer anything. Obika and Souare were both broken, Bair is an athlete not a footballer, Wilkinson is neither, Spencer has one foot, Gent looks raw at best, Shaw is here by accident and I'm not sure Davor actually exists.

I could go back over the past few windows (particularly summer) where we have an equally poor hit rate with signings and it leaves us in the exact position we are now in terms of horrendous winless runs and talk of binning managers.

Tl:dr - Our problems go far beyond the manager.

Defeat on Tuesday, a decision may have to be made 🤔

Nah I think Kettlewell has more than enough credit in the bank. In reality, this is his first bad run since he came in.

Recruitment needs looked at though. I get we're limited, probably more than ever, by finances but some of our signings (going back years) have been shocking. They're not all going to be Moults (first spell) or Kipres but too many have been so far from being good enough for this level that it makes you wonder what those responsible were thinking. Unfortunately it looks like we've focused poor recruitment on the attack this season. With 4 of our 5 forwards either injured, rotten or both (Mika excepted). Add to the fact that the only left back we brought in will likely never be seen again despite that position being a glaring hole in the team for f**k knows how long.

We seem to say it every season but we just need to get through to January then sort out the mistakes of the summer.
