Now for a first, a Bo'ness defeat. However it was the first final the club had reached in their first season, 45/46. The competition was the East of Scotland Cup, the venue Tynecastle and the opponents Fauldhouse United. That the BU's lost 2-0 can be put into perspective by the fact that the 'hoose were almost invincible that season, winning the League whilst being unbeaten and lifting 4 cups including the prized Junior Cup.
A crowd of 14,609 saw the BU's go down fighting and had a Hamilton goal chalked off, dubiously, for off-side. The team was: P McKinnon, Archibald, Gibb, Gardner, Smart, Brash, McGowan, Pryde, Hamilton, Leask, McLean.
