  1. Feb 3rd 1962 takes us to a home League match with Linlithgow Rose. The BU's came out on top 3-2. The team that day was: McNairn, Kemp, Stirling, Veitch, Scott, Cram, McFarlane, Higgins, R Sneddon, Birrell, Donlevy. The scorers were Bobby Veitch, Ian Cram & the winner came from Billy Higgins, newly signed that week from Maddiston Hearts.
  2. Thank you. Feedback and queries make it all worthwhile.
  3. Strictly speaking you are correct. However he was in the Scotland XI tour of Asia and Oceania in May & June 1967. The squad comprised players that were felt to be up and coming and would figure in the 1970 World Cup qualifying campaign. He played in 4 of the 9 matches, conceding only 2 goals. He played against Israel, Hong Kong, Australia & an Auckland Xi.
  4. 1957 saw the BU's travel to Bonnybridge and return the victors by 3-0 The team was: Thomson, Collumbine, Gavin, McBlain, Garth, Adam, Taggart, Hunter, Glennon, Calder, Shaw. Goals came from James Glennon, Patrick Taggart & John Hunter. Future full Scotland international Harry Thomson made his debut as a trialist from Broughton Star.
  5. We also had a 'Junior' McCluskey in goals back in 1950. Would I be right in assuming it was father and son?
  6. Today we go back to title-winning year, 1969 and the BU's entertained Bathgate Thistle and won convincingly 4-0. The ine-up was: McCluskey, McCandless, Makarus, McMeechan, McQueen, Simpson, Bernard, Nisbet, Lourie, Wodecki, Bell . The goals came from John Bernard, Ian Lourie, Ian Wodecki & Bobby Nisbet
  7. I wouldn't think so. Dougie was signed in 1961 from St Bernards.
  8. I know but I had to look it up. Feel free to answer, nobody else has
  9. Don't want to tempt fate but today we go back to 1948 and a trip to play Bonnyrigg Rose. The BU's managed a 5-3 win with this team: Graham, Mitchell, Keenan, Walls, Trialist, McKie, Black, Pinkerton, Buckley, Trialist, Cannon. The goals came from a double from Paddy Buckley, one from Charlie Cannon and two from the trialist number 10, Birrell, from Bayview YC. If anyone knows his first name, please let me know.
  10. Today's teaser is from 1999 and 'Sheep' McKinlay scored a hat-trick against which side in the Fife and Lothians Cup?
  11. For the 30th. No apologies for another big win, this time in 1971. Fauldhouse United visited Newtown and were beaten 8-0. The team was: Anderson, McOwat, Bertram, McGregor, Gardiner, Johnstone, Allan, Logan, Frew, Newman, Alexander sub Millar. The undoubted star of the show was Lennie Frew, who netted 5 on the day. Dave McOwat grabbed a double and Gordon Logan got the other.
  12. 4-1 (I think) in awful conditions and you'd probably be right... You win again!
  13. It was indeed him. As a wee add-on, can anyone name the side he scored his only goal against?
  14. No, this boy a forward See above Jamie Nixon? This lad played at senior level. Last clue.
  15. How about one of your fans getting off their behinds to research your club's history. I don't see why I should be giving you any crumbs of comfort.
  16. In 2011, Kelty were the visitors but were beaten 3-1. The third was an Andy Shirra penalty but who can remember who earned it?
  17. For the 29th, I'll take you back to 1955 and a home League match against a side no longer with us. Alva Albion Rangers took a few heavy beatings against the BU's and in a season where we won the League and they finished 2nd bottom, the 10-0 score-line wasn't a great shock. The team was: Ronald, Mitchell, Blackwood, Hogg, Boyd, McBlain, Scott, McMahon, Harrower, Hunter, McKeown and the goals came from 4 doubles from McKeown, McMahon, Harrower and Scott. One from Hunter and an own-goal.
  18. That's the boy! Signed from Hill of Beath. Well done.
  19. Nope, it's not him. The player in question only signed at the start of 2006.
  20. The 28th of January, 1989 saw a League visit to Bonnyrigg Rose and the BU's returned with a point in a 1-1 draw. The team was : Kirkwood, Dunleavie (Grant), Fisher, G McLennan, McLean, Ewing, Shields, Dalton, Cowan, Hamilton, McLaughlan. Steve Cowan netted for the BU's. A wee teaser from recent times. Who scored a hat-trick on this day against Lochore Welfare in 2006?
  21. In 1968, on the 27th, Bathgate Thistle were in town for a League match but were sent packing 6-0. The team was: Crawford, McGuinness, McCandless, McMeechan, Thomson, McQueen, Bernard, McDonald, McGuire, J Sneddon, Watson. The goals came from Brian Watson, doubles by Benny McGuire and Joe McMeechan and one from Tony McCandless.
  22. Yeah, he was with us between 1995 and 2003 and played fewer than 150 games Introduce yourself and you can have a steak and haggis pie (if any are left after Dave has had his fill).
